Sunlit Uplands

I’m still suprised there’s been no protests yet related to the current rises and the ones in the pipeline like the above. Couple this with any interest rate hikes over 2%, expect full scale riots.

It’s mental Le Pen with even her Russian links are a legitimate second party. I expect if UKIP was credible on a single policy as it was with Brexit, there’s always a chance some nutter party can displace Labour at the next election as long as they promise to reduce the cost of living.

You are forgetting about the kick backs.
You can always be non exec at BP or suddenly rollout a startup making covid masks with your cousin, nothing dodgy about any of that while claiming expenses for your mistress who’s also your PA.

It's worse than this.
The threshold level will drop, meaning they have to start paying earlier and so will pay more
and also the cut off has been extended from 30 to 40 years, again meaning they'll be paying much more.

Student loans are mental. In my first year of working I logged in to see the damage of my total loans and the interest was more than I was paying! I saved quite hard for a couple of years to pay it off ASAP as it was just a debt I didn't want to hang around, especially at a pretty fuckin' mental interest rate.

It's obscene. All the young people I know think they've no realistic hope of ever paying off what they owe.

From the age of 21. For fuck all. It's sick.

I'm old and out of touch... what's the average debt in student loans a student finishes uni with?

If people like Kirstie Alsopp carry on telling the millennials that all they need to get on the housing ladder is cut out the daily starbucks coffee then I don’t see why they would mind paying the additional interest on their student loan 😉

I’m suprised they haven’t kicked off yet, we have fcked up the climate, poltics and the money to unprecedented levels.

She's a complete cow, but the housing issue does irritate me a bit in how utterly London-centric it is. In most of the rest of the country it's simply not as issue to anywhere the same extent.

It's not GOOD, either, and property everywhere is dearer than it should be, but in most place two people on the minimum wage are able to get a mortgage for a reasonable flat, providing they can save £10k or so for a deposit; and that isn't THAT much of an ask, really.

If you get elected I'll happily work for you for whatever the going rate is and I'll give you some of my wages.

I promise to do a 2nd rate job.

And end up in bootle. Fuck that.

Well the equation where I live is as described.

Probably the wages are better in Liverpool because it's a big city.

In any case, I was being conservative with the figures. 40k implies at least 120k mortgage. That implies price of £135k with a roughly 10% deposit.

And that's on 2 minimum wages, or thereabouts.

Also, looking again, that's a 3 bed terraced house. A couple only needs a 1 bed flat.

Problem is when people like Kirtstie Allsopp (daughter of 6th Baron of Hindlipp) say such trivial things, forgets to mention she brought with family financial help from her family and not by making her own coffeee.

The prices in London have had a knock down effect in South east/west and Midlands too, since people are more able to work from home. Haven’t looked at how that compares ratio wise against earning but bet It’s a lot harder for people to get on ladder.

It's a fucking huge ask. How can somebody a minimum wage save 10 grand with the price of rent and pretty much everything else these days?

It’s in an absolute dog rough part of the city. And we are nowhere near decent wages. Huge numbers are either minimum wage, gig jobs or benefits.

You’re just repeating what allsop is saying. Just move somewhere shit if you want to own a house.

I'm not repeating it at all. I don't know what fucking Bootle has to do with anything, and I don't know why you imagine a young couple needs a 3 bed house.

Where I live, wages are about average for the country. It's a nice place. 2 people on min wage jobs could get a mortgage to buy a nice 1 bed flat or even a little house if they want to extend themselves a bit.

I don't know why I should be required to lie about reality (outside the SE the housing situation is bad but nowhere near as bad as the national conversation would have people believe) in order not to be accused of lacking sympathy for young people.

I've got loads of sympathy for them. There are loads of major issues. But in most parts of the country, it's perfectly possible to get on the housing ladder if you're somewhat disciplined.

You've got to admire the hypocrisy of the MSM and the Tories.

Russia has always been branded a dictatorship under Putin where he changed the constitution and rigged the elections.

Russia = Bad

Rwanda almost the same timelines, same thing happened. Changed the constitution and rigged the elections so effectively now a dictatorship.

Rwanda = Good and please take our refugees.

Nice timely distraction for Boris.
Anyway it’s just the males they are planning on sending for processing, this all becoming very dystopian.

That explains all the hullabaloo about defining what a woman is...
