I think hes a super player. He and Ibe can make it. I hope they sign long term and accept a small role over the next 12 months in cup games and home against relegation fodder.

I have often thought we pull the trigger too soon with our youth players although to be fair none have gone on to do anything of note so maybe its just sentiment.
The thing with Suso and Ibe though is that they want to create, they want the ball, they want to do things on a pitch that others dont have the talent or vision to do.

I really hope they stay on.

Me too mate, him and Ibe are cut above anything that's out there on the fringes of the team, if he doesn't stay this season he's gone, which would be a big mistake IMO, he'll become a really good player given a run of a season or two.

I don't think there is such a big problem with Suso in terms of where he plays. For me he's always reminded me most of Iniesta who can play in midfield but also in an attacking position. Suso doesn't quite have Iniesta's acceleration I don't think (which isn't much but enough to allow him to pull away from defenders) but he does have that same kind of ability on the ball.

Our bench was so bad last year and I'd much rather be bringing on players like Suso rather than lazy cunts like Moses who don't give a fuck about.

Suso is quite intelligent, he's probably already deduced that Borini needs to go and it will secure him a spot on the bench. His next step should be to borrow Fabio's phone and send a few suggestive messages to Enrique, the rest will take care of itself.

It would be absolutely criminal if we let him slip away. He's exceptional. He needs encouragement and some game time, both of which I'm sure Rodgers will give him. It'll be give and take - he'll need to be flexible, and so will Rodgers - but we've got a rare gem there.

What people tend to dismiss with regards to Suso's performance in Spain last season is that he played for one of the worst teams in the league. Almeria are an absolute shambles. A lot of loaned players, a lot of individualists trying to make a mark, no consistency, tactics all over the place.
I've been to that city and it's fucking shite as well. No wonder that he stagnated towards the middle of the season.

He'll now have a season with a much better team, better players, better work ethic, better training and more competition.
It bodes well.

It was a pretty crap loan unfortunately but at least he proved himself to a degree.

I'm sure that if we are foolish enough to discard him he will have no shortage of suitors. Hopefully we get him to sign a new contract if nothing else.

Not related to Suso, but it's an excellent point re: Iniesta. One of the key components in his ability to be so damn good for so long, and one he rarely gets credit for.

Spanish forward Suso has revealed that he is in talks over a new contract to stay at Liverpool.

The 20-year-old is back at the club -- and part of their pre-season tour party in the United States -- after a season on loan in La Liga with Almeria.


Suso, who arrived at Anfield from Cadiz at the age of 16 in 2010, has entered the final year of his contract, which expires next June. But he told the Liverpool Echo: "We are talking with the club already.

"Hopefully I will sign a new contract soon. I want to stay here.

Suso hopes that a season of regular top-flight football in Spain -- where he made 26 league starts for Almeria as they avoided relegation by one point -- have given him the experience to aid his push for regular first-team games at Liverpool.

The Spain Under-21 international said: "I wanted to go on loan because at my age I felt I needed to play every week and feel important to a club.

"I played nearly every game and helped Almeria stay up. I was lucky enough to play against Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but the most important thing is that I learned a lot and became a better player.

"That was vital as now I'm back fighting for places with the best players in the Premier League.
"It's a good challenge for me to prove I can be here and I can play for this team.

"I probably feel most comfortable in a central role behind the striker but I can also play on the right -- I just want to play."
