Suso

So he only made the bench against Middlesbrough, but is good enough to start against Everton. I agree entirely with this.

Positively and with confidence which is something I feel we are lacking up top at the moment.

Suso Fernandez's "wonderful feet" and refusal to be floored by a lack of game time has been saluted by Brendan Rodgers.

The Liverpool manager was impressed by the 20-year-old's Capital One Cup cameo against Middlesbrough, in which he hit a sweet strike and slotted two penalties in a remarkable 14-13 shoot-out win following a 2-2 draw in extra-time.
The Spaniard's attacking intent injected effervescence into the side upon his introduction in the 98th minute. Rodgers savoured Suso's display, which he felt was reward for the starlet's work ethic.
The forward is now in contention to face Everton in Saturday's Merseyside Derby showdown.
"Young Suso was a player that when I first came in, he played quite a bit," the Reds boss said. "He's already experienced the derby in that first season away at Goodison and we've seen his impact from the other night.
"I was really pleased for him, because it's been difficult for him. We sent him out on loan to try and get games and experience.
"He has come in, put his head down over the course of pre-season and worked hard.
"He hasn't had a lot of game time and that's probably been difficult for him, but he's never shown it.
"He has got the same appetite in training. You saw his quality when he came on in the game, when the space opened up and even when it was tight, he had wonderful feet and wonderful technique.
"It was nice to see him score off his right foot and he's definitely one that comes into the reckoning."

He'll probably play as a RW but i'd like to see him play centrally

So you'll be happy to know that he plays generally between the right and centre as he sees fit. I don't think it's a problem if he drifts inside as Manquillo hardly does a lot of attacking down that side and Henderson has got it covered too.

On the left it's more important that Sterling or Markovic stay wide to support Moreno, and also because Lallana isn't going to cover shit.

For someone who isn't covering shit, he sure put in quite a shift to win possession in his last game.

Hopefully him playing might give Coutinho a kick up the arse to sort his shit out. At the moment Suso looks a better option than him.
Good news if we get him to sign another contract.

So a player with kms covered on a par with Henderson last season isn't going to cover shit ?

Yeah, but the original point suggested he doesn't work hard or track back, which is rubbish.

Which isn't enough if Markovic goes wondering. Henderson covers two positions as he has the energy to run not only up and down but across the pitch.

Imagine a runner going in a straight line down our right wing.... Henderson runs a longer diagonal line to catch up to him. Lallana would die after doing that a couple of times.

that's assuming Markovic will be playing, which at the moment doesn't look likely, he's being eased in and rightly so. Part of the problem is the lack of someone with the discipline and defensive nous to sit in behind Hendo and whoever else, if that stability was there, it wouldn't be an issue, Coutinho has played a similar role to huge success, so I don't see why Lallana can't.

Have you seen our forward line play this year ? Or Southampton's last season for that matter ? Following your line of thought Lallana must be running a 5k by himself behind their back line then, considering their total kms are so similar.

If Suso is good enough to start in the league in September then what the fuck was Rodgers doing with those summer signings?

It's slightly more complicated than the total distance ran. Lallana is an attacking player and always on the move... So he clocks up a lot of kilometers. Henderson isn't always on the move, so the fact he clocks up just as many kilometers is more significant. He must run faster and over longer distances. Lallana can't run than hard, nor can anyone else in the squad. So the point is whoever plays on the right of our attack has better cover and can take a few more liberties with their position.

Shouldn't we be comparing Lallana to Allen and Coutinho, rather than Henderson?
