With 11 games to go, we may actually have a chance tof conceding fewer than 40 goals in a season for the first time in years. 39 isn't great, of course, but it's still a damn sight better than 43 and 50.
The last time we managed to go under 40 was in Benitez's final season in 09/10, when we let in 35.
We've still got a chance to match that, but I'm not sure we can. Given the calamities at the back for much of the season, conceding 35 would actually end up being quite an achievement even if it isn't that great a record. However, having had seasons of 43 and 50, it's a solid improvement.
If we managed that, it'd mean we conceded only 8 goals in the 18 games after Leicester on New Year's Day. That would be the most impressive part.
We can hope!
