The DB wet dream final

That was one of the worst finals I've seen and yet watching Utd (and to a lesser extent Spurs) struggle so hard for so little is very rewarding.

As for Ange, fair play. The Europa League is a joke (at least this year) and Spurs (along with Utd) have been woeful... BUT... they've not won shit for years and years. It's a big deal and this goes into the history books for them.

That said, the way things look right now, it's probably better for both to part ways... I don't stay on top of football "current affairs" but the relationship has seemed somewhat acrimonious at times, no?

It’s Spurs not Liverpool. They had a huge injury crisis and he said himself they decided in Jan to prioritise the cups and sacrifice the league. We also have everyone taking the piss out of Utd for losing to Spurs in a final. Can’t have it both ways. It shows how incredible an achievement it was for Ange. It was a massive gamble and the only acceptable outcome was winning a trophy, they beat Utd and City and us in the first league of the semi in the league cup. They went two steps further in the Europa. They have a young team and this will be a huge springboard for them and they will all believe in Ange now. Don’t forget he had Spurs right at the top in first season for a decent part of it before falling away. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start strongly next season with Ange.

Its Spurs as you say. 20+ league losses shouldn't be acceptable, cup or no cup.

I do like Ange and I'm made up for Son, and of course I'm delighted that United are this shite, we were never this bad I don't think. Maybe with Hodge Podge, but we were quick to get our act together again, United's decline has been a popcorn-fest for a good few years now.

As for the final itself, we've played our part in some pretty woeful finals too.

Yeah, I’m actually mostly made up for Son. Can’t think of a nicer guy that plays for another team. He deserves it.

What's better... Bundesliga or Europa League medal?
Bundesliga, fair play to both of them though. I don't know why Kane gets so much shit about not winning stuff, it's not for want of trying, he's just been surrounded by poor to 'good but not great' teams throughout his Spurs career, the only one that might have got there was the year Leicester won the league, when they gave up in the last 5 games and finished 3rd. He's a class player and I'm glad he's won something now, same for Son.

European trophy + semi final of another cup + a mountain of injuries + insane pressure = acceptable for this season in my book and I’m sure for the majority of Spurs fans.
I think he's on borrowed time, but like I say, I do like him and his no bullshit approach to interviews. He's honest and was quick to tell interviewers that they were being pricks to him by ignoring the injury situation, fair play. He has to get his shit together next season though and make them tougher and harder to beat.

The fans hate him, and he hates the fans. For a season and a half he's antagonised them and they've antagonised him.

I don't see a world where he claws it back, and he shouldnt be given the opportunity to.

Injuries can only explain so much.

Yeah effectively it's just because he was loyal to Spurs so I'm not sure why that deserves stick. He could easily have gone to City and won titles, he's obviously good enough.

100% if he starts poorly he’s done. Interesting I hadn’t heard him talk about the fact he approaches knock out football differently to the league. The league is all out attack while the cups are clearly more conservative.

Some of his interview content is superb, like the one about educating kids and while you shouldn’t shove phones in people’s faces to put on SM. He’s great. I mean who the fuck couldn’t admire the man after watching stuff like that. Weirdos and or Arsenal fans I guess.

Obv aside from wanting him to fail so people can tell me get fucked, which in fairness is a very compelling argument 🤣

He told them to stop being fucking losers who care more about Arsenal losing than them winning and he was right and maybe just maybe the fans will back him now or enough to start next season.

Even after that. He was getting grief from the fans in the stadium this season, then spurs score and he gives it the biggun back to them.

They then proceeded to lose the game

Regardless of the trophy, for me his position is untenable. It seemed everyone (media, fans, etc) all accepted he's going in the summer. This shouldn't change that

I think they should probably sack him but you can understand it's a but tricky now. Ultimately the league form is just unforgivable and I think he's probably lost the players, even after last night.

The Spurs teams under Pochettino were definitely good enough to win a few trophies. Great players lift their teams. It is a bit damning that Kane couldn't lift his team to even one measly trophy in close to a decade. That team had several excellent players in their prime - Lloris, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Son, Dembele, Eriksen, Alli

Contrast with Gerrard who won 9 trophies across 3 different managers, and played in some pretty terrible teams

Fair point but not all great players are great leaders. Kane is probably way more typical than the exceptional force of nature Gerrard was.

Trophies are a game changer for any club nevermind Spurs. He might go but I think it’d be a mistake for this group of players and I wouldn’t be surprised at all that he stays.

21 losses out of 37 league games…

…winning a devalued Europa cup by playing the worst kind of Mourinho football against a shite Utd is fun, but even last night Spurs fans I know (some in Bilbao for the final) were both living it up AND stating unequivocally he has to go.

Thats because they expected defeat as they are Spurs fans.

Who were you pulling for, Dan? 😉

He's lost as many games this season to Ipswich and Leicester give or take....

They absolutely fluked the final last night through an own goal and Utd battered them the whole game.

The guy is an absolute fraud. Amorim and Ange are the worst managers in the league, the table doesn't lie. Utd fans begging for a De Zerbi, Howe or Frank, Spurs fans begging for a Glasner, Iraiola or Frank.

Ha ha ha ha. Keep digging buddy. You didn’t think he’d make Xmas 2023!

Just admit he’s proven you wrong and all will be forgiven.

He got to the semi final of the league cup beating Utd, City and us in the first leg of the semi.

He went one better in Europe and won the bloody thing after openly admitting he gave away the league to prioritise winning a trophy for the club. It was somewhat forced on him with injuries and he risked his entire careers reputation saying he believed he win this trophy and he bloody went and did it.

Give him the credit he deserves.

Conte couldn’t.
Mourinho couldn’t.
Poch couldn’t.

All hail Ange.
