We're too fucking slow.
When we won the ball back in our half and Wigan were disorganised we hardly got moving until they had 9 men behind the ball again. I don't think Carroll is good enough for us but against a packed defence surely his aerial ability and the way he attracts defenders were exactly what was required.

Its just the fact that we've seen it all before .nothing is changing over the long term . We were 6th last season and have been most this . We have made progress in our style but not the results which is what really matter .
Downing is pants but for whatever reasons kenny can't see it .
Carroll looks poor but to be fair he hasn't had a run of starts or even a good chunk of minutes . When he did score he was dropped next game . So if he's not going to fit the style or start then bite the bullet and get rid . Or at least buy another striker who is going to play .

I wouldn't put Johnson in the same category as Downing and Dirk who were both piss poor.
Suarez is often called a "striker" but I think "forward" is more accurate. Dirk is an ex-striker. We played 85 minutes without a striker on the pitch so I suppose it is no surprise we didn't score.

Yeah we have spent - but if you look at it this way - we don't have many great consistent goalscorers in our team, none of them to a man were great goal scorers for their previous clubs - its times like these one of those types of players would come in useful. The thing is we are creating all the chances in the world and breaking down teams - just no end product and that means long term we are going to be f*cked in terms of getting a CL place.

Downing was no worse than average, seems he and Carroll who isn't even playing are the go to scapegoats at present. Probably because of their price but once there bought they're the same as every other player.
Maxi, Kuyt and Adam were the standout shite for me tonight. Not that they're our worst 3 players, just they were tonight.
Our defence is excellent now, we only need to start scoring our normal average and we could start flyin, we need a striker and another top quality attacking player.

Thee's a problem with Suarez. When he roams from a standard up top position, there's no body in the centre forward position trying to get on the end of anything we create. I don't think Suarez as a striker on his own works really. Fantastic player no doubt, but he needs someone who's going to stay in the central positions waiting to get on the end of things.
Giving Carroll four minutes at the end is a joke to be honest. The pitch was really poor and we were struggling to pass the ball, so if there's ever an acceptable time to pump it long to him, last night was it. What can he seriously be expected to contribute with less than five minutes on the pitch?
Also if we're going to play the neat pass and move stuff, Kuyt shouldn't be anywhere near the starting 11. I'm on egg shells whenever he gets the ball, and it shouldn't be that way.

It actually doesn't matter how many goals we score, it's how many points we gain that really matters. I couldn't care less if we only ended up scoring 40 goals at the end of the season but ended up in the top four.
