La Liga's answer to Chris Woods. I hope you don't think he would be a good signing? He is 29 and failed at Leipzig and Crystal Palace, prior to Atleti, but having said that he is outgunning a player some people on here want the club to spend £130m on.
Thankfully the Club is going to go for the right profile of striker

What is the profile of striker Slot would want leading the line? Tall, relatively fast, intelligent and can hold the ball and play others onside, and within means. that rules out Alvarez and Isak.
1. Kane ideal candidate but with a salary of €400k and is happy at Bayern - unrealistic
2. Ikitike, will turn 23, has 15 goals and 7 assists but a price tag of €100m makes very expensive but not unrealistic
3. Cunha £63m, has 15 gaols and 6 assists. On the field, no red cards. My top target
4. Delap, £30m, no brainer.

Conclusion, buy Cunha and Delap as replacement for Cheesy and Nunez, and they along with Gakpo can be the mainstay of our attack for the next 5 years. It also means it screws Man United up, as both these two are their top targets

Doesn’t Cunha mainly play off the left and isn’t Delap relatively inexperienced to be leading one of the top teams in Europe.

For the £100 they’d both cost, I’d rather we spend a little more and sign Alvarez or Isak and keep cheesie.

I think Slot could still mould Chiesa into something Delice-ious.

Kane ‘relatively fast’!? Just stop already…

No more kick and run merchant with half a brain please. He doesn't even need to be world class since we will never pay the money so I'll settle for a solid, consistent, competent young striker.

There aren't many strikers out there and loads of clubs are after one this summer:

Sesko
Delap
Cunha
Gyokeres
Isak
Alvarez
Ekitike
David
Watkins

From that list its probably only Sesko and Ekitike that are realistic. Alvarez is the dream.

As a Swede, maybe you'd expect me to champion him, but this is exactly the reason why I don't. He's injury prone; it's usually not season-ending injuries, but you can expect him to be out for 2-4 weeks here and there. Now, combine that with his price tag, and you've potentially got a recipe for another poor transfer. It's a big risk.

Is it just me or does the current crop of attackers in football seem a bit shit on the whole?

During CL semi-finals the other week the commentators were going on about the Ballon d'Or and yeah, the likes of Raphina and Dembele are good players who have had very good seasons, but Ballon d'Or? Really?

It feels like most top teams are in need of a top class striker / forward and are struggling for options.

I genuinely really like Alverez, and have watched him loads, but he's not worth an insane fee. We're talking of paying 90-100M on a player that has scored 15 goals in La Liga. It's a more general point but the lack of attacking talents around is cause for sadness. There are times in the last 20 years that Isak and Alvarez would be seen a mid-to-good level strikers going for ~60% of the biggest transfer of the game. The fact either are seen elite players deserving of breaking transfer records for is wild. What the hell happened? Refuse it's all to blame on Pep's Tiki-Taki bollocks.

Development was focussed on nippy, technical players, so you got a herd of Ødegaards, but not mant big beast center backs or center forwards.

Someone tell me why you would want the club to pay £130m for Alvarez when he isn't the top goal scorer at his club? He is supposedly on £6m a year so would want more if he was to move.

Because he's a goalscorer (27 goals this season) and a creator/facilitator as Slot calls it, never injured (missed 1 game), 24 and about to hit his prime. Striker position sorted for years.
Macca's best mate. Sign!

15 goals in the league, for a creator he has only 2 assists. For £60-70m, yes but for £130m and moreover salary is likely to be £200k/w. He isn't worth it. He wasn't worth it when thing paid Atleti paid €90m for him.

You also have to factor in Simone's tactics.

Norways answer to Chris Woods has 17 goals. He didn't do huge numbers at City either. €150m gets you two elite level players that can elevate a team or spend €150m on one player who returns 0.5 goals per games

If we're going for wirtz we might pull back on the value of the 9, so shopping below the toppers tier

If we don't get wirtz we go right back to the top table
