You are quite right, although I'm not arguing or attempting to justify the fee, merely the original point of £25m buying you an elite player. Whirly has already said that that was a bit hyperbolic so the discussion on that is settled.
I find the whole fee thing has parallels with the Henderson purchase. Who's now a key player in our side and was very much missed in the final few games. I don't think you can justify any fees right now but in many months time when his contribution can be fully and properly assessed.

Lallana will 28 by then.
It may take him a lot less Modo. Let's wait and see is all I'm saying. I think he's going to be great for us

It's an age old cliche, but if that type of player was at a Spanish club, with those six pointers you raised, no one would bat an eyelid, infact, many would say it's exactly the sort of signing we should be making and wouldn't give a fuck about the price.
It's laughable, people were kicking up a fuss about us not going the extra yard for Willian and Salah, yet Lallana is overpriced. While many I'd wager had actually seen little of those two players, but were more keen on the actual idea and glamour of the signings, rather than the reality of whether they were worth the money and suited to this team.
Lippy makes a good point, you can't really judge many investments like that until a couple of seasons down the line, assuming that they don't do an Aspas and bomb in the first season, which is unlikely.
As I've said before, for all his "I hope he does well" posturing, Modo seems pretty intent on being ready to show Lallana up to be a flop, just to prove some petty point. Like the England games during the World Cup, being a case in point - "I'd rather see highlights of what he did for England during the World Cup, than a highlights reel of how brilliant he was all season for Southampton".
Wait until the friendlies start and every microsecond of his game is dissected, next up he'll have a signature devoted to him.

Those 6 points aren't that far off what Aspas was though when we signed him from Celta Vigo. And he cost what, 8M? And for 8M, most people thought he was a solid signing. If he cost 25M, we wouldn't have been anywhere near as happy.
Salah cost around 12M though, which was fair value for the player.
The main fuss with Willian was that Spurs were beating us to him, but he was overpriced at 30M. A lot less overpriced than Lallana at 25M though. Chelsea ended up trumping Spurs likely with bigger wages, and we couldn't really compete with that at any point. That was also at a point where Sterling looked to be stagnating, and we badly needed another winger/attacking option after missing out on Mkhitaryan and Costa, so paying over the odds for a top option could be considered, especially when in competition with rivals for the same player.

Which is fine but I'm sure you'll get behind him and back him as soon as he pulls on that red shirt fella.
It's a moot point though, people are taking the idea of English premium to the extreme, it's becoming more widespread and the fees are becoming more balanced across Europe, despite most being heavily inflated. United are paying daft money for Shaw, we're attempting to pay daft money for Moreno. We've just paid £20m minimum for Markovic, with little competition (any?) despite his potential. The market is all over the place but I don't think it's exclusive to the English market now.
Like I said at the time, I thought £25m for Lallana was steep, if it's £18m rising to that, dependent on him/us meeting the criteria, then I can just about live with it, I like him and think he fits our play well, he's certainly not to far away from Joe Allen in terms of style, with alot more end product, yet you've willingly backed him for most of the last two seasons, despite a weighty price tag and a mixed bag of performances.
You pay this kind of fee for either a player who has a high potential ceiling or one who is established and can contribute right now.
In Liverpool's case, what we needed was a player who could contribute now and help to maintain the current level, the league is so competitive that we can't afford to slip out of the Champions League places again and we can't carry too many passengers who are trying to bed in to the league.
I would actually liken this deal to Man Utd's for Carrick. It might not be glamorous, it might not be a name that the fans are clamouring for, but it's the type of player that the powers that be at the club really think we need. Sometimes squads and clubs need these kinds of signings and it's tough to see it until they've been here a while and contributed.
I'm sure Adamos Lallanovic will be a success, he might never justify the fee in many fans' eyes but I'm sure he'll earn and deserve his place in the team.

My point is that Hendo 2 years later was still worth a large part of what we paid for him due to him having age on his side.
Lallana at 28 wouldn't be worth half of what we paid for him if he's average for two years.

Just out of curiosity, what type of impact does he need to make to in order for you to regard that 25m well spent next season? Probably easier for people to grasp if we compare it to some of our key guys' impact last season. So, a season like:
- Sturridge?
- Sterling?
- Henderson?
Honest answer, not some hyperbolic one like Suarez or "all of the above". 😀
