Gomez is shaky and Fabs out, are we fucked or does Henderson now come in and try to do a decent job?

The only reason why Henderson played as a CB was because we had no one else. Van Dijk, Matip, Lovren and Fabinho were injured.
The squad we travelled with only had one other CB, van den Berg. Anyone with a brain would go with Hendo.
This time around we do have Williams and Koumetio and Philips. Also, it's not entirely clear if Matip is unavailable.

So, yeah Hendo stays in midfield.

So with Keita, Ox, Fabinho and Thiago unavailable the idea is to move our only decent midfielder into defence so that we could field Wjinaldum Milner and Jones in the middle of the park

I think Hendo is going to play there at the weekend. It's only a matter of time before Gomez breaks down too, by the way.

Will Keita and Thiago be unavailable ? I know Klopp said they weren't ready for last night but I'd be surprised if at least one, if not both, were not back for West Ham.

Gomez has actually been very solid since pickford's hatchet job, mate... Now, I worry he'll break down again in a matter of munites, but his performances have stepped up nicely, so far.

The change to LCB might be a blessing as it means opponents cutting in get onto his strong side which benefits him, and maybe even the extra diligence required building rapport with Robbo on the left too is helping.

I wonder did TPG, whose initials are PTG ever work for GPT (on Edge Lane)?

I did, but its no matter as it's not an anagram of FTB

This could take Gomez's game to the next level, he's always been the junior/quieter partner.

If he has Williams beside him, he has to take responsibility that he hasn't needed to so far.

Think that was the real reason Klopp Subbed him half time, with the veiw that he may have to play him as a make shift center back vs West ham

can't see it myself... But we live in hope 🙂

Its entirely possible that being on the same side of the defence as Trent wasnt helping him. Trent has a tendency to get caught way out of position or press an opponent and leave a huge gap in behind. With Robbo and Mané on the left he shouldn't be caught in no mans land as much and maybe setlle down a bit

Henderson is being handled well due to coming back from injury. We are just managing his fitness.

Matip will be good to go on Saturday.

With the way thiago has been pictured training over the past week he could well start also .

Assume matip is still a week away

Any ideas when keita ox and Tsimi are back ?

Fab has seemingly got a grade 1/2 hamstring tear that'll be him out for 4 weeks odd but I'm sure klopp will clarify during his presser

Don't think were looking at a serious tear judging by Fabs reaction , his movement as he left the pitch and Klopp's initial comments post match

Quiffer. And it looks like 3 weeks and back right after the International Break.

Lucky it wasn't worse.

Looks like Rhys got very simple instructions. If you're gonna pass it forward, pass it to Trent. Not a single pass to one of the midfielders.
However Gomez turned into van Dijk role and was spraying passes left and right.

(Now I'm afraid we need @Halmeister's help restore the positive/negative balance to the Universe.)

"Speaks for itself, doesn't it? As you were."

Think I'd want better than less than 50% for aerial duels for my senior centre back. Not quite worthy of all the smugness.

I thought he was shaky first half against Sheff Utd, but good second half. I didn't see the midgetland game.

There's also the bizarre fact that Klopp has played 36 centre back combinations in his time here yet has never played Matip & Gomez together!

It's not quite as strange as it's been made out to be, seeing as they've tended to alternate their respective injuries much like two figures in a weather clock.
