Bottlers.

Arshavin has gone to shit, he was great last year.
Every arsenal fan I know loathes him.
Probably because he's (and his agent) have been talking about joining Barca for years ...

Sickens me looking at the league table now. If we had beat Wigan, and if we had beat West Ham, we would be right up there dreaming about Champions League next season.
If if if.

He's a lazy cunt, who has one good game in every 10.

Well we or at least I was sick of him for scoring 4 against us. That probably dented our chance to get the title.

BBC Radio 5 live's Jan Molby: "On the evidence so far Torres and Drogba look a million miles away from ever being able to play together. They have both been very, very poor."

they both were very shite.

torres seems to have completely lost his strikers instinct. it'll come back though

SummerOnions likes this.

Hopefully Torres attempts a shot and dies or something.
I put a bet on him not scoring this season. fucking 16/1 they offered me, pricks.

You won't win any money.

They don't play to Torres' game, and that's a major problem for him. Because I doubt they'll change their game for the sake of one player. Drogba's style doesn't look like suiting Torres' either.

We played to Torres' strength, and that's why bar the first half of the season when the team was shite and he was shite, Torres scored for fun at Liverpool.
It's also why he looks lost most of the time playing for Spain. He needs to be the man everybody works for in order to get the best out of him. It's not really a criticism of him (he was an amazing player for us over 3 seasons) but I have to question Chelsea's decision in pursuing him.

I find it quite satisfying how Suarez would be a perfect player for the three pronged attack they used to play with whereas Torres is far from suited to it if Drogba is also on the pitch.

Torres can play it, it just has to be played a different way, if we had Suarez, Torres and Kuyt it'd be ideal. The problem for them is that Drogba is the fulcrum of the attack (and rightly so) and they're trying to make Torres fit.

Of course Torres can play it as can Drogba but I was saying it's very hard to fit them both into that system at the same time as neither of them are at their best in the wide forward role. If they had got Suarez instead and a forward line of Suarez-Drogba-Malouda it would be much more effective.

Torres doesn't score enough for Spain, but his presence does mean defenders are petrified of leaving him alone, which allows the likes of Villa, Iniesta et al more space to play in.

I keep waiting for Torres to click.

It doesnt look like it's going to happen. Somethings going to have give/change.

Biggest cliche ever. He'll score some goals but not like he did for us at the beginning.
And if you want to judge his class you can't really do it solely on an 18 month long purple patch.

Just like Fowler and Owen his body is letting him down after ten years at the top

Yep. Scholes is older, but once he hit about 30 ish the goals started to dry up, given he was banging them in from everywhere at one point.

While I don't want to see a Stevie G in decline, I think we're gradually getting used to not being so reliant on him, given we've also lost Torres too.

Not sure if you are talking about Torres or Stevie G, or both, there Rosco, but if its Torres forgive me if I dont agree with you. He is still one of the best strikers in the world and will score goals regularly for Chelsea.

Reputation counts for way too much in football, chelsea paid us 50 m based on his reputation. I can almost guarantee that they've paid twice as much than Bent went for, for a striker who will score less league goals over the next five years.

This Torres is class line is lazy analysis. He has been barely above average for 18 months now and given his persistent injury problems 50m is a stupid price to stake on him regaining form he showed for 18 months of his ten year career.

Torres is a class player. Thats not lazy analysis. Its a fact.

50M is way too high a price for him. Thats also a fact. But thats what someone was prepared to pay for him.

if you want to get the best out of Torres you have to play to his strengths, the question is, is he worth changing the entire structure of your team. some would say yes because at the top of his game, Torres is argubly the world's best striker.

Torres is class and its fair to say that he'll come good for Chavs. In football, reutation and hype will always inflate prices.

However, Chelsea will feel vindicated if Torres gets them to the CL final and wins it for them. Not a scenario I'm hoping for.

Ideally no, but sooner them than ManUre.
sooner barca then both of them.

Getting in Suarez and Carroll for Torres and Babel has been the best piece of business we've done for ages.
