The VVD one annoys me the most on both sides.
It should be so easy to tie down the existing captain and the fucker should want to sign a deal worth hundreds of thousands a week to captain us. There is an element here of him not putting the club first as this has dragged out. It's not a good look to be so non committal. If it was Hyypia or Carra, it would be done by now.

Pretty damning verdict on the state of the club's hierarchy when fans need to convince themselves over and over that Virg and Mo will sign because it's somehow inconceivable the club will let them walk away. Have the last 15 years not taught you anything? FSG are part of the moneysavingexpert corp.

Virgil Van Dijk’s (33) Liverpool future is up in the air. His contract with the Merseyside club expires at the end of the season and talks regarding a renewal are ongoing.
The Dutchman was spotted talking to Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Luís Campos following the Ligue 1 side’s UEFA Champions League win against Liverpool on Tuesday. However, RMC Sport understands that tempting the defender to the Parc des Princes was not a topic of conversation.
Van Dijk does, however, have an offer at his disposal. L’Équipe understands that he has an offer worth over €20m from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. The centre-back is mulling over the offer but is yet to give a response, opting instead to focus on the end of the season with Liverpool, including the upcoming League Cup final against Newcastle United.
Al-Hilal have also submitted an offer to sign Barcelona winger Raphinha (28), however, the Brazilian has rejected the approach. He has opted to remain with the La Liga giants, at least until the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Have felt he’s off for a long time just has his it a lot better than Trent.
It's clear that he badly wants to stay and that makes me hopeful that club and player will find a way through this.

I don't agree with that. The club has as much right as any player to decide what they think he's worth, and they're not under any greater obligation to accept his demands than the player is to accept what they put forward. The club is also justified in asking what happens if they do exceed their valuation and other players then decide to jump on the same bandwagon. We're all mustard for Virgil and Salah to stay (not so sure about Trent) but not at all costs.
Imo I've no doubt that whilst these negotiations have been going on, that all three players have had multiple contract offers put forward to them by the club.

Some rumours around that he will turn down our current offer and join BM. Not sure any truth in this.
However, it's not extend at all costs and club can't play by that but it's not a good look currently for the club which has been stable for the last 10yrs with the best players being retained to suddenly lose all 3, and potential issues with Konate all at the same time especially if they join European rivals in same window. We will soon find out I guess what's been our best offer it does mean now we will have half the 1st team to replace this summer effectively which is a crappy scenario.

I don't see the problem with that. He's 33 and wants to get paid. Who wouldn't. No matter how much ambition you have if you're not getting what you think you're worth you're not going to do it.
