Trent, Salah and VVD

I love people losing their shit over a negotiation of which there is zero information other than it isn't concluded.

It’s funny isn’t it - “Just get it done” and blame our negotiating team, rather than “just sign the thing” and blame their negotiating team.

They're all leaving.
It's better to think that way, so that when Mo & VvD sign 2-3 year extension, we'll be really happy.
Trent is leaving though.

The VVD one annoys me the most on both sides.

It should be so easy to tie down the existing captain and the fucker should want to sign a deal worth hundreds of thousands a week to captain us. There is an element here of him not putting the club first as this has dragged out. It's not a good look to be so non committal. If it was Hyypia or Carra, it would be done by now.

Sounds harsh but it is what it is. Things are different when you wear the armband.

Pretty damning verdict on the state of the club's hierarchy when fans need to convince themselves over and over that Virg and Mo will sign because it's somehow inconceivable the club will let them walk away. Have the last 15 years not taught you anything? FSG are part of the moneysavingexpert corp.

Well it certainly taught me it was a better approach than the 2 clowns that came before them who almost bankrupt the club.

Virgil Van Dijk’s (33) Liverpool future is up in the air. His contract with the Merseyside club expires at the end of the season and talks regarding a renewal are ongoing.

The Dutchman was spotted talking to Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Luís Campos following the Ligue 1 side’s UEFA Champions League win against Liverpool on Tuesday. However, RMC Sport understands that tempting the defender to the Parc des Princes was not a topic of conversation.

Van Dijk does, however, have an offer at his disposal. L’Équipe understands that he has an offer worth over €20m from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. The centre-back is mulling over the offer but is yet to give a response, opting instead to focus on the end of the season with Liverpool, including the upcoming League Cup final against Newcastle United.

Al-Hilal have also submitted an offer to sign Barcelona winger Raphinha (28), however, the Brazilian has rejected the approach. He has opted to remain with the La Liga giants, at least until the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This is positive imho.

Slot asked about Van Dijk's contract comments: "The only thing I know is that I want Virgil to be here next season."

I dont think youre obliged to take a shitter contract than you're worth because youre deemed the best leader at the club.

Things should be different, but its not the captain that should be making extra concessions.

And we wouldn't all be in a frenzy being expert negotiators if it wasnt 3 vitally important players they cant agree get agreement with all at the same time. Feels like they don't respect the players.

I don't agree with that. The club has as much right as any player to decide what they think he's worth, and they're not under any greater obligation to accept his demands than the player is to accept what they put forward. The club is also justified in asking what happens if they do exceed their valuation and other players then decide to jump on the same bandwagon. We're all mustard for Virgil and Salah to stay (not so sure about Trent) but not at all costs.

Imo I've no doubt that whilst these negotiations have been going on, that all three players have had multiple contract offers put forward to them by the club.

I 'suspect' that we've now drawn a line in the sand and said "take it or leave it".

Unless you're privvy to the contract details, it's impossible to form a conclusion as to the fairness of those offerings.

I certainly don't subscribe to this 'give them what they want' mentality.

Some rumours around that he will turn down our current offer and join BM. Not sure any truth in this.

However, it's not extend at all costs and club can't play by that but it's not a good look currently for the club which has been stable for the last 10yrs with the best players being retained to suddenly lose all 3, and potential issues with Konate all at the same time especially if they join European rivals in same window. We will soon find out I guess what's been our best offer it does mean now we will have half the 1st team to replace this summer effectively which is a crappy scenario.

Virgil van Dijk (33) is increasingly leaning towards a Liverpool exit as his contract expires in June, according to Sacha Tavolieri. The Dutch centre-back reportedly feels his time is up with the Merseyside giants. Van Dijk joined Liverpool from Southampton in a record-setting €84m transfer during the 2018 winter transfer window. He went on to establish himself as one of the finest centre-backs in the Premier League era.

Van Dijk reportedly envisions one final gig at a foreign club before hanging up his boots for good. As reported by L’Equipe, the Netherlands skipper has a lucrative €20m per year offer on the table from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. Van Dijk would rather favour a move across the Atlantic and into the MLS. Tavolieri adds that Van Dijk’s close friend – Manchester City playmaker Kevin de Bruyne – is also planning to join America’s first-tier on a free transfer next June.

In the aftermath of Liverpool’s exit from the Champions League at the expense of PSG, Van Dijk was seen in conversation with Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Sporting advisor Luis Campos. Tavolieri understands that no further discussion took place between PSG and Van Dijk, although the Dutch international might have used the moment to hint about his upcoming availability in the summer. As for a contract renewal, no deal seems to be on the horizon between the Liverpool owners and the 2019 UEFA Player of the Year.

With Van Dijk heading towards the exit and Ibrahima Konaté’s future up in the air, Liverpool have added Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck to their wishlist. The 25-year-old Germany international is tied with the Schwarlzgelben over a contract set to expire in 2027. BVB have reportedly set a €60m asking price on Schlotterbeck, but LFC feel they can reach an agreement over a transfer fee near the €50m mark.

Is that according to *the* Sacha Tavolieri?

Ideally it's paper talk to force the club to stop beings mongs. They won't be of course, as spreadsheets don't allow for negotiation.
