Trent, Salah and VVD

Yeah, it's plastered all over the official.

No surprises. He's in for a very rude awakening at Madrid, IMO. His ego now maybe big enough to ride it all out, but he'll never had what he could have had here in terms of a connection with the supporters and the chance to retire a proper club legend. If Madrid stay behind Barcelona over the next few years then it's going to get even more toxic and ridiculous than it already is.

As for the club's POV, it's all been said. We no longer have to indulge his unique skill set, nor deal with a vice captain who can't be arsed to run or track back against Manchester United. There are plenty of times we'll miss him. It's also a decent opportunity for Slot to start morphing this squad into his own image. The chance to sign a new fullback on either side in the same summer really gives Slot free reign to do what he wants with either position. We saw how transformation Trent and Robertson were. I don't think Slot will be we reliant on the fullbacks, but the point stands in that it can really solidify a managers vision for their side. If we get it right then there's scope for a net improvement across the positions.

Just say it. You fancied the sunshine and the signing on bonus more than your boyhood club.

Many years ago, I watched a hero of mine KK leave for Germany stating he wanted to taste European football. I was heartbroken as he was at the top of his game.
Next season we bought in KK, the Scottish version who turned out to be the best we have ever had.
I feel betrayed by TAA, he lives a dream that millions can never ascend to and he decided to leave and join a club with a very dubious history, both on and off the field. Shame he didn’t take the time to delve deeper into the history of RM.
So, I don’t wish him well, just leave, the club will move on to bigger and better things we’ll be shining brighter long after you are a footnote in history.

Expected, but still hurts at some level and I think he must be hurting inside as well and probably a bit scared of what’s to come. I do respect the idea of challenging yourself and seeking something beyond the comfort zone. Not many of us are in magnanimous mood now, but I would rather focus on the positive moments and memories with Trent. I’ll remember the passes, the joy of football when he first came into the team, the free-kicks, “corner taken quickly,” Champions League and the Premier League titles. YNWA lad.

Also with him gone, for me this officially marks the point of transition from Klopp’s team to Slot’s because Trent’s unique tactical profile defined the Klopp era - both its strengths and weaknesses. He was both the cheat code and the Achilles heel of that team. Good luck to Slot on finding the former, hopefully without opening up the latter.

Now that it’s official, I’m excited to see what we do to sort out the squad… numbers. #66 can fuck off, Bradley and others need to get this sorted.

As for #66 the player… he can fuck off too.

Who’s he walking around the anfield pitch on his last home game most likely hand in hand with Bellingham I’d say.
He should get an early bath (or not come off the bench) and run off straight down the tunnel - for his own sake - because I can see the crowd getting on his back after the final whistle. It won't be the happy farewell he many be imagining. Surely he knows / has been told, this.
