I dont get the hate. I must be getting old. There's no guarantee that if he signed a contract, that Madrid would activate a release fee. They are cunts like that. They probably told his brother is now (at 26 on a free) or never.

He's sacrificed his legacy for potentially more trophies in Spain.

Meh. Indifference is all I feel.

I get why he wants the move. He will be brilliant at Madrid pinging passes to Mbappe and Vinicius with the protection of Tchoumani and Camavinga. He will probably make more money, win more trophies, everything. It is a perfect move for his career.

You are excusing him for uttering those words when he was young and emotionally on a high. Maybe it was not intentional; perhaps it was. In my opinion, it doesn't matter. My point is that he was not that young, and even if he was not intentionally manipulating a fanbase to his advantage, it doesn't matter. He did utter those words, and there are consequences, even if he was only 20.
 
I think that statement is mutually compatible with leaving later.

I think the main reason we couldnt really indulge Trent is Salah.

I think the main reason we had to indulge Salah is the failure of Nunez. If Nunez works as an actual 9 then Salah is far easier to replace, and honestly probably wants to go. I don't think klopp would have kept him on either, if he was still around.

I don't know if it would have worked in any case. I fundamentally don't really like inverted fullbacks though.

He doesn't. I stopped getting attached to players after Torres, with the exception of Steven Gerrard.

But I understand why Scousers would feel betrayed. All I am doing is pointing out that his actions have been disingenuous and will have consequences.

I agree that players shouldn't be able to hurt fans emotionally. We are well down that path, and if the players want that, we will give it to them.
 
I'm not arsed. I knew he was leaving ages ago and I'm actually glad he was so shit against manure because that made it all feel fine. He could be one of the best footy players in the world but not a system player. Perhaps he'll try harder in a new environment. Maybe he'll end up with a roaming role in midfield at Madrid. Maybe he'll fail miserably. It's not just up to him, the new coach and his style are at least as significant as Trent's ability. The new coach might not want to make someone a project, or he might be a massive fan of his and build a system that he's an important part of. Slot wouldn't, and that's the important thing right now.

You can't lose someone with those assists and passing range and pretend you're happy, but his defending has been really shit this season. People used to say it was shit but it wasn't, it just looked it compared to going forward, but it's as if he's completely given up all those duties lately. Klopp tried to accommodate him and it was a mess. Slot clearly didn't. I don't wish him ill will but I won't be watching his career closely either. Him being from Liverpool doesn't bother me. What has been bothering me is his form. His lack of concentration. His getting more experienced and yet being further out of position game by game. Now it doesn't matter unless we play them next season. Long live The Tayto Terrier.

I mean it would take a pretty dedicated mother fucker to verify that, but does it at all come as a surprise?

1.15 per game? 296 seems kinda low.
 
They can have him now for all I care. That's the guts of 200k a week saved. An additional payment would also be a bonus.
