At 16, you're still growing. It's important to let his body fully develop and, as a result, he should not get overused. Blood him in the team by all means but it should be on an exception basis not a regular one. People use Owen and Fowler as examples as good enough old enough but they succumbed to career ruining injuries far too early in their career and I fully believe they were played too often at too young age and that significantly contributed to that
I agree with this, totally.

That lad who scored the first goal Hallam Hope looks like a manchild already
Yep, mentioned him a couple of years ago when he got the Golden Boot for Everton at the Milk Cup (a youth tournament based over here in NI) even though he was a year younger than most of the other kids, then came back the following year and received the Player of the Tournament accolade as Everton won back-to-back trophies.

I thought tekkers was filtered?

I agree though Peter, Sterling does have amazing tekkers and that goal last night was sublime.

Hopefully he gets a bit of first team cup action at some point this season.
Haha! That "tekkers"-thread was ace. Who's was it?

Did Raheem Sterling split into two or something ?

I thought Raheem Sterling = Raheem = Sterling ?

*so confused*
If only we could get one player out of the two.

*dreams*
Fuck!! Imagine that?! The pace and tricky of Raheem added to the skill and end product of Sterling.
Probably would be the best player ever.

Danes are brushing Brazil aside at times. And are trailing 1-nil at the break, obviously.

Good game in the heat.

Viktor Fischer and Patrick Olsen (DM) stands out for the team in red.

Don't think Chelsea's new-signing Piazon has showed that much so far. They are dangerous on counters Brazil though.

...and Fischer misses chance of the century.

Brazil started the brighter team and as just made it 2.

Aussies came from behind to beat Ivory Coast 2-1.

Ivorians dominated but Aussies somehow managed to grab 2 goals.

Any upcoming Aussies these days?

A Kewell-like player made of steel perhaps?

Not really... there's a few promising talents out there.

In regards to a Kewell-type player, closest thing we've got to that is Tommy Oar who plays for FC Utrecht ... left winger, with great pace and loves to take on defenders.

Has had a season to settle in Holland so we shall see how he develops next season and beyond - still quite young.

Cheers mate.

Heard from a guy at work who's mate works at Melb Victory that they are in talks with Kewell atm, and all that needs to be settled is how much he will earn

It's very weird that the Netherlands are on just 1 point after their first two matches having played Congo and Paraguay.

They won the EC about a month ago brushing teams aside.

Lucky for them Raheem was injured.

Who did you support as a boy?

The team I supported when I was younger was QPR.

What was the first football match you attended?

The first match I went to was actually a cup final at Wembley. It was an FA Cup final game between Manchester United and Chelsea.

Whose name did you have on the back of your shirt?

When I was younger I had Cristiano Ronaldo’s name on the back of my shirt.

How old were you when you signed your first professional contract?

I signed my first professional contract with Liverpool earlier this year, when I was 16.

What has been the proudest moment of your career?

I actually have two moments that I am really proud of so far in my career. The first being, scoring for England, it is always a great feeling scoring for your country.

The second is when I scored five goals in the 9-0 win for Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup game against Southend last season. To score five goals in a single game was just amazing.

Who is your closest friend in football?
Again I have two really close friends in football both of whom I play with at Liverpool. David Moli who has played for the England Under-16’s as well is a really good friend of mine.

My other close friend in Henoc Mukendi, who also plays in the Liverpool youth set up.

If you could play along side any player past or present who would it be?

I would love to have had the opportunity to play alongside both Ronaldinho and Zinedine Zidane. They were both great players to watch when I was growing up.

It would also be great to play alongside (Lionel) Messi; he is currently the best player in the world today.

Who is the best player you have come up against?

The best player I have played against is Ravel Morrison, who plays in the Manchester United youth teams, and has also been capped by England at a number of levels.

When did you realise football was going to be your career?

I realised football was going to be my career when I was about 14. I had my heart set on becoming a professional footballer from a young age and was very determined to make it.

How difficult is it to get yourself in the first team at Liverpool?

Liverpool are one of the best clubs in the world, so it is always going to be very difficult to break into the first team, the players at the club are of top quality – but it was a great experience for me when I was in the squad for the Europa League games last season.

Who has had the biggest influence on your career?
My mum has defiantly been the biggest influence on my career.

And finally what does the future hold for yourself?

Hopefully I will be able break into the Liverpool first team on a more regular basis, but at a club like Liverpool you can’t just expect to walk into the team, you have to work hard.

I know he is young but cristiano ronaldo’s name was on the back of his shirt growing up? man, that makes me feel old.

I do not mean to be so presumptuous - But I reckon Fabio's comment was said with his tongue firmly in his cheek.

the one that got me was him saying his first game was a utd-chelsea cup final, and i automatically think, hmm, the 1994 final, 4-0 to utd - good game for your first final.

no, hang on. 1994...that'd be - yep, before he was actually born.
