Its been a bit quiet on the racing front lately so ive had a chance to have a word with a couple of people who tend to know their stuff. Anyways a shortlist of horses that I/we think could be potential winners in the not to distant future.
Arctic Freedom - Well bred daughter of War Chant who only just lost out on her debut to outsider Dove Mews. Ed Dunlop isn't one to push his fillies to win on their first and expect plenty of improvement from her and a maiden next time out should be a formality
Bobbie Soxer - Bred for 10f+, but has ran twice over 6f and both times has been staying on well and perhaps is one for nurseries over 7-8f this season and should win races.
Howard - Half brother to stayer Samuel out of a 1000 Guineas fourth who was unsurprisingly an unfancied 16/1 chance on his debut and ran incredibly green before staying throughout the final furlong. One to note for the future as he undoubtedly has a bright one ahead of him.
Imaam - Well liked and nicely bred son of Pivotal who made his debut in a race the trainer targets with nice horses such as Jedburgh and Shmookh. He comes from a very good family, but one in which they tend to improve from their debut run and judging from the way he was staying on strongly close home, he has ability, and now with that run under his belt should go on to much better things.
Reaction - Very green on his debut, but was picking up really well when the penny dropped and seems to have a good turn of foot which will stand him in good stead and win him plenty of races.
And 3 from the gallops to appear soon and have been working very well at home:
At A Great Rate - This filly holds a Group 1 entry and she could well be up that standard. She is an exquisitly bred daughter of US stallion Arch who comes from a superb high class family and is said to be working well and is scheduled to make her debut in the coming weeks, most probably at Newmarket (July). Could be very good indeed.
Itlaaq - He is out of a filly the trainer did well with and this colt is held in very high regard by his trainer. Scheduled to make his debut at Newmarket (July) recently, but apparently will want a little bit of cut. Said to be rated a serious Group horse material and one to follow this season over 7/8f. May need first outing like so many from the yard, but word is he is pretty much ready now to do himself justice.
Zacinto (A little late with this one as its already romped home 1st last week) - Beautifully bred colt who is said to be high in the pecking order at Freemason Lodge. Apparently did a brilliant piece of work on the Limekilns Gallop under Kieren Fallon recently and could be a high class prospect. 7/8f should suit
