Victor Moses

I don't think this is a "major miscalculation." Carroll and Downing was a major miscalculation. Moses just cost us £1M in loan fee and 6 month of being shit off mostly off the bench. In the large scheme of things, it's a blip.
Least he scored a goal too.

Actually thought Moses would prove to be a good loan signing for us, he's been anything but.

As many have alluded to, he just doesn't seem arsed which is unacceptable...stick him in the stands if he doesn't buck his ideas up. Doesn't even deserve a place on the bench at the minute.

No point sticking him in the stands if he has not going to play. Just send him back to Chelsea.

Its part of Mourinho's loan strategy - send players out with instructions to either (a) score against Chelsea rivals, or (b) play like a disinterested piece of Camembert for Chelsea rivals. We should take it as a sign of respect from the Special One.

He does look sooo disinterested it could look slightly suspicious. In truth I'd say he's struggling to motivate himself. He thought he was going to be a Chelsea player and has found himself farmed out. He has the innate talent to play a part in our campaign but doesn't have the heart to give it his all. It is a shame, and we need to tell him to fuck off.

Agreed - he needs to be shipped back out. I trust Rodgers to do this after the Sahin incident too.

I remember us all creaming over him the first few games.

Talent yes but crap attitude it seems.

I'd much rather see someone like Jordan Ibe being given the 10 minute cameos in each game than Moses. If we aren't going to sign him then it isn't much use to us.

Oh come on. He looked superb the first couple of games. Superb goal, direct running with skill and pace, we thought we had another great deal from Chelsea.
In the Swansea game, yes

Less so the next

He scored a goal in his first game, Coutinho got injured so he then played as a number 10, and was generally rubbish! Not many were creaming, most were saying he shouldn't be playing as a number 10.

He was fairly ordinary after he scored the goal against Swansea. He was pretty shite for the rest of the game. 1/2.

He knows he isn't wanted and can't make the grade and so is no doubt not bothered enough to be a hard working reserve player.

One would've thought that he'd be motivated cos:

1. It's a WC year
2. His chances of going back to Chelsea with a place in the squad is remote
3. This loan move represent a good chance for him to place himself on the shop window and/or win a permanent move to a big club

On a sidenote, how many of Brendan's loan signings have worked so far? Coincidence as to how they failed to work out or is there more to it? 😵

I wonder whether the loan deals are ones that the transfer committee fail to reach a consensus on & are a fall back option should the priority targets not be achieved.

Chelsea are ready to tell Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to look elsewhere for players over concerns regarding Victor Moses.
That could put the Stamford Bridge club’s good relationship with former employee Rodgers under strain and cut off one of the Northern Irishman’s main sources of transfer targets.
Moses was the latest Chelsea player to link up with Rodgers on a season-long loan in the summer, despite interest from a host of clubs including Everton, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City.
The deal is in danger of turning sour, however, with Moses struggling for opportunities and facing the prospect of spending the second half of the season on the Anfield substitutes bench.
Liverpool have shown an interest in signing left-back Ryan Bertrand on loan or permanently this month, but Chelsea will attempt to resist either deal. Bertrand is likely to be advised to look at the struggles Moses has faced if Liverpool make a firm move for him. Chelsea believe there are better options than moving to Anfield available to the 24-year-old.
Fulham are also interested in signing Bertrand, who could also be used as part of a big-money Chelsea bid for Southampton’s Luke Shaw.
Rodgers still has a number of old friends at Chelsea, not least manager Jose Mourinho who he worked under as head youth coach and reserve-team manager at Stamford Bridge.
Rodgers has used his Chelsea links throughout his management career to sign players. He took Bertrand on loan at Reading, signed striker Fabio Borini on loan from Chelsea for Swansea City and snapped up Scott Sinclair on a permanent transfer.
Those deals were all successful, but Rodgers also took Josh McEachran on loan to Swansea in 2012 and the young midfielder played only 215 minutes for the Welsh club.
Chelsea accepted that Rodgers had difficulties squeezing McEachran into his side because of a superb run of form and the highly successful signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson. But in an interview while on loan at Middlesbrough last January, McEachran was asked what he learned at Swansea and replied: “Nothing.” When asked for an opinion on Rodgers, he said: “I’ll pass on that.”
Since becoming Liverpool manager, Rodgers has continued to look at potential signings from Chelsea. Daniel Sturridge went to Anfield on a permanent deal last January and Moses signed on a season-long loan in the summer. Sturridge has flourished under Rodgers, forcing his way into the England side and scoring 11 Liverpool goals this season before suffering an ankle injury.
Chelsea have a scientific approach to allowing their players out on loan, based on how often they are likely to play and how they can develop at a club and under another manager. It was felt there were better options available to Moses than Liverpool, but Rodgers persuaded the player that he could make a similar impact on his career as he made with Sturridge.
Having pushed for Liverpool over Everton and Southampton, Moses has started just eight games this season and has largely been restricted to late substitute appearances over recent months.
The Nigeria international was hauled off at half-time in the FA Cup victory over League One Oldham, with the match still goalless at that point.
Chelsea are now fearful that Moses will spend the second half of the season stuck on the sidelines or only making cameo appearances at the end of games. He has fallen behind the rejuvenated Raheem Sterling in the Anfield pecking order and is seen very much as a squad player.
Despite their worries, Chelsea are not thought to be exploring the possibility of cutting short Moses’s loan. Liverpool are also reluctant to lose any players with the season going so well, particularly before they make any January signings

send him back now .

If chelsea wanted rid and we took him with the idea of full transfer should he prove himself then fair enough but if they were sending him here for us to help develop their player then fuck that .

I hate loans from the likes of chelsea because let's be honest they only allow it as they don't see us as a threat . And at a club our size how many loans really work out ? There are very few clubs who's leftovers we should be interested in for loan deals .

I doubt Chelsea are monitoring their loanees this closely or that they have expectations of improvements in all the players they loan out.

You'd have to be a supreme optimist to expect a players continual progression away from your own training regime and management.

I expect the player has been asked why he can't get in the team and as usual with players he'll have blamed someone else rather than accept his own failings.

Anyway, I'm sure if Chelsea really wanted or were concerned for him they'd contact Liverpool and ask for his return so that they could pick up his wages and welfare again. I doubt Liverpool would argue very much at present.

I don't think Chelsea is really "furious". I think Mourinho is having a laugh about it and being an arse just for kicks.
Fair play. We might do the same..

You would think that The Telegraph would know that we can only have one player on loan from Chelsea.

Aldo says Moses shows 'no desire and no spirit'

Victor Moses needs to improve or risks getting his loan at Liverpool cancelled, according to former striker John Aldridge.

Aldridge - who scored 63 goals in 104 appearances for Liverpool - says he has been exceptionally disappointed with the efforts of attacker Moses, who is at the club on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

He singled out the 23-year-old's performance against Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup on Sunday as particularly poor and feels Moses is taking his Anfield stint for granted.

"Victor Moses was handed a big opportunity when Brendan Rodgers brought him to Liverpool from Chelsea last summer," Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

"Not many players get the chance to go out on loan to a bigger club but I don't think he realises how lucky he is.

"The Nigeria international could have no complaints about being hauled off at half-time of Sunday's 2-0 win over Oldham.

"He looked completely disinterested in that opening 45 minutes and gave the manager little option.

"There was no desire, no spirit. Maybe he's lacking a bit of confidence or maybe he's just unhappy because he's played so little recently. He has let himself [down] at Liverpool."

Aldridge thinks Liverpool would have been better served keeping winger Oussama Assaidi - who they loaned out to Stoke City - instead of signing Moses.

And he also believes that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers should investigate the possibility of trying to cancel Moses' loan.

"Hindsight is a great thing but we would have been better off keeping Oussama Assaidi and not signing Moses," he added. "Assaidi has contributed a lot more for Stoke during his loan spell than Moses has for us.

"I don't know whether Chelsea would agree to take him back as they've got a big squad but it might be in everyone's best interests if the loan is cancelled.

"If Moses wants to stay at Liverpool until the end of the season then he needs to buck his ideas up. He's in a precarious position. He needs to realise that and start fighting for a shirt."
