He's always been able to strike a ball well and will score goals in a team in a team which works hard around him or, as we're seeing, in a weaker league.
However it's clear no Premier League side were willing to pay a couple of million to take him off the hands. The risk was too great. Signing the 'wrong' player, especially in the striking position can be the difference between staying in the Premier League and dropping down the Championship. Unfortunately for us but wisely for them, they concluded Mario was completely unsuitable to the demands of the Premier League. He's become a laughing stock in England and deservedly so. Good for him if he can resurrect his career in France, but I certainly won't be blaming the club for releasing him on a free. Having someone completely with his lack of professionalism can prove toxic in a disciplined environment where hard work is seen an the minimum requirement. With that in mind we were completely in our rights to fuck him off on a free and there won't be any regrets even if he does bang in 20 goals this year.
