We should have hired Laudrup

He took over Swansea in the summer and with a smaller budget than us and has them at the top end of the league. He doesn't appear to need time to lay down his philosophy and get the players playing the way they need to.

We on the other hand hired the up and coming football genius that Rodgers is and with a bigger budget have contrived to become worse. Why does Rodgers need time and Laudrup doesn't ?

How is that four managers on the trot now have appeared to turn shit while coaching us ?

Yeah Ross he also has a decent starting point unlike BR who was tasked primarily with clearing the wage bill.BR is the right man for us he just doesn't have the resources to do the job he's been asked to do.

I think I better spell it out for people. There isn't any magic any manager can work with this bunch of useless cunts.

The point is some complete fucking morons keep going on about how we have to "keep our best players" - the players who are bleeding the club of money each and every week and turning in horrendous fucking performances week after week.

Wake up cunts - we have a squad full of shit overpaid footballers and every time we talk about getting rid of them you throw a hissy fit.

I'll bite that worm. Hatless as he is.

Laudrup is taking over a side that have played this brand of football since youth minimum level, rodgers is trying to teach players who have never played it before a method that involves zonal pressing, closing down lines & attcking & defending in turn whilst resting with the ball & playing inbetween the lines.

There's a reason a lot of the younger players look better at doing it, they've been doing it longer.

Laudrup took over a good side, Rodgers didn't essentially.

We agree.

Laudrup took over a good side versed in the way he wishes to play the game.

Rodgers took over a half decent side with a few excellent players, most of which aren't versed in the way he wishes to play.

We don't completely disagree.

Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard, Suarez.

All excellent, all relatively consistent.

All overrated for me. I'd happily see the back of them all for the right money.

They've all been present for the last couple of years and despite how good people say they are we've been rubbish.

Agreed. These same people will be talking about how shite United's players are. And it's by some miracle and the effect of Fergie that they're always pushing for a title.

No. It's because they have better players and the effect of Fergie that they're always pushing for a title.

it's hard to disagree but it's a strange one because i think if you put them in other decent teams they'd look good . Together though for us , something isn't working .

I can't agree enough.

I think it shows the gap between what we think is valuable and what actually is valuable. That's the gap that the Moneyball approach closed in baseball, I don't know how it's possible to do that in football.

But I do know when we have highly rated players who never win. There's an issue,

Henry: 'Linda, I'm afraid you're going to have to get out there again, quick. Bring as many one-legged youngsters as you can - AND DON'T FORGET THE MASCOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'

not saying you are wrong but is it really that complicated to pick up ? I imagine a fair few of our team have played similar before and well pressing , playing inbetween the lines etc isn't exactly mind boggling or new stuff , it's stuff you learn from an early age no matter what the formation . And we played some decent football at times under dalglish , it shouldn't be hard for semi decent footballers to pick up . I mean it's not as if Rodgers has taken over the Wimbeldon '91 team .

Obviously though yes , you would hope the team improve with time as they play more often together but i'm not sure i 100% buy into this whole "we're completely rebuilding" argument that some are using to justify some shite play .

If I had said, last year, that Joe Allen would be a better midfielder for us this year, if signed in the summer, than Gerrard I'd probably be laughed off the forum. But it's beginning to look that way.

I was watching the game today, and the way Carzorla and Diaby were so incisive in the final third compared so our ponderous approach around the box and it struck how I myself still massively overrate some of our players. We've got Europa players (if that) on CL winner type wages. Ridiculous.

You're oversimplifying things again Ross. I don't know whether you do this purposely to get the most bang for your buck reaction-wise but I would've thought by now we'd have gotten past the sensationalist approach.

It's all well and good to say that managers don't matter and that all the players we have are useless but it's taking a very black and white view of things and respecting only part of the equation.

We have players that are rated for good reason. They are playing in a dysfunctional team and have been for a couple years. That doesn't necessarily make them bad. If Agger had've gone to City, played well and won the title, would that suddenly make him a different player to the one we're seeing at Liverpool now? Less overrated? No. Players, managers, teams and systems matter to varying degrees in different environments. Creating the right balance for our particular environment is the problem and Liverpool have been failing for some time.

As for selling anyone for a price, I wouldn't be averse to that if I had any faith in the management. Your approach relies on intelligent, innovative and strategic thinkers leading the club. We don't have those and we know this for a fact because if we did a) Comolli wouldn't have been appointed and fired within the space of a year, b) we'd have a stronger CEO and c) we wouldn't be in the mess we find ourselves in now.

So in the reality we actually exist in, we need to be a little more pragmatic.
