It was never a red card for me, very cynical tackle, but a red was very harsh.
I can see why he was red carded. Though I've never seen someone get one for that type of challenge.
I get it, he was trying to stop their winger from starting a counter attack but usually you pull or push the player down or block him or something like that.
I can't remember seeing some lunging at someone from behind to stop him. That seemed a bit much.
But I can also see why Arsenal fans have grievances.

New directive this season according to Kamara on Goals on Sunday. A deliberate foul with no chance of getting the ball is a straight red.

He changed to 3-5-2 after the Arsenal mauling, and they set up like that a few weeks ago against Hull
I dunno who nbc had as their co-commentator, but he sounded continually astounded by the formation, & kept on saying things like "After all this time you wouldn't think there could be a revolutionary new formation in the Premiership that could be so effective".

I felt like screaming at the dense twat.

So Conte finally switched to his patented 3-5-2 system, huh? I guess that's how Chelsea will line up for the rest of the season. Will be interested to see how the Premier League adjusts to this, it took other teams some time to figure it out when Rodgers did it, but eventually we got found out. That might not happen with Conte's team as he has better defenders than us in 2013-14 and knows how to set up a defence.

Rodgers was also a smug twat who went on and on about his tactical approach, even grinning about it at every press conference with his stupid teeth. Other managers had reason to put in extra hours to figure to how to bend him over and put him in his place. Conte probably won't attract the same level of passive aggression from his opponents.

Respectfully disagree. These types of tackle should always be red cards. Firstly you get a Yellow for just trying to pull someone back (rightly) once they get ahead of you - it destroys attacking play and if there was a sin-bin I'd have them sent there too. Secondly it is downright dangerous - there was absolutely zero attempt for the ball as he was long gone, it was a dangerous tackle from behind. Red Card every time for me.

Is there a bigger couldn't give a fuck fixture in the league than Boro v Watford? I think not.

Its perfectly fine to send him off. Its a game of football, Xhaka doesnt want to play football so off he goes. Ita a delirable kick at someone, not an attempt to win the ball so just the same as you punch someone.

Been watching since half time and it's been dire, turgid football. Watford just scored a decent shot after everyone stood around watching one of their players take a blatant flop looking for a penalty.

This is awful.

Was looking a bit forward to Southampton v Burnley, if only to scout which south coaster we'll buy next summer. But it's on the premium channel I don't get.

I just watched primer for the third time cos the match seemed unappealing. Glad I did, & not just cos I (FINALLY!) get that film now.

Southampton have played some really impressive football for the first 10 minutes of this match

With two matches like this, Sky Sports should be prosecuted under the Trade Descriptions Act for calling it "Nissan Super Sunday!"

😀
