West Ham v Liverpool Post Match

Man, I love reading that Sturridge did well today. Can we really find a better striker than him?

I really don't want him to go, he's the best striker in the league when fully fit, he's got it all pretty much, bar exceptional workrate, though if you can put the likes of Firmino and co around him, then he can thrive off their hardwork.

Great game and a great result. I hope we keep the faith in both the players that started today and the system, for next weekend.
We've needed a bit of a change these last few weeks and I really liked Coutinho in a more central role.

Klopp clearly has plans for Coutinho in that central role, and said in his post match presser that he's spoken to Coutinho about that role for next season.

Next weekend will be another tough game to watch but maybe the team got the neccessary confidence today to get the job done.

Well the fact he's talking to Coutinho about next season, is good news. Hopefully he doesn't get his head turned over the Summer.

You sir, are a masochist if you think that playing boro will be 'fun'.

This side has continually bottled it in massive games, they have continually struggled against lesser sides too, & this is, in effect, a one game playoff against a lesser side, who are already relegated so can play with all the freedom in the world, & try to get a new club in the process.

It's got banana skin written all over it & I will be shitting myself.

If they play with freedom, that'd suit us. It's when they play with two layers of wall in their own half that is the problem.

I'm doubtful that Boro under Agnew is capable of playing with the discipline and solidity at the back that they had under Karanka. Before they sacked Karanka, they had a blunt attack but a solid defensive record, scoring 19 goals and conceding 30 in 27 games. With the management change, they flipped that around and have scored 8 goals while shipping 20 in 10 games. So, hopefully, that's a sign that they won't come here to park the bus - or won't be very good at it.

Games where the opposition has nothing to be play for, in Boro's case already relegated, are hard to predict. They might just go for it. Or capitulate

City play WBA at home on Tuesday.
Arsenal play Sunderland at home on Tuesday.

Doubt there will be much help to get there.
Need to win next Sunday.

Don't underestimate WB - they are a well drilled team, that want to finish top 8 (I think that would be their best finish ever)

Nah, if the game was at the Hawthorns then maybe. But not at the Ethiad. City win.

If the Moysiah pull off a draw at the Emirates, he'll definetly be the "chosen one" forever....

Studge was class. Aside from the goal, there were just sublime touches that made you purr, like the short half-volleyed pass, late first half, that he bent around Origi's back so it landed in front of him without any need to break his stride. Glorious. Origi didn't quite have time for a double take, but the pass deserved one. I so wish we could keep Sturridge fit,he's a Rolls Royce of a player.

But there were a few uncherished but fine performances. Ming and his coach, so much criticised in the past, should get praise here, because there's no doubting the positive work they've done. Ming finally looks like he owns his area.

Coutinho looked promising playing deeper ('I hope that decision might force Klopp to buy a wide player' - Jamie Carragher. Almost as if, rather than his own decision 'forcing' him to do just that, Jamie, mate, he might, weirdly enough, be actually planning to sign one!).

Wijnaldum plays like Molby when we're four up. It's a start. He's very likeable, and he's clearly got talent, but he just needs to impose himself more when the game is tight. At his best he's really intelligent.

Who knows which team shows up next week. We're extremely Jekyl and Hyde these days. I think we'll be fine, but I can see LDCS as well (Last Day Choking Syndrome)

The momentum and confidence gained from today might end up being a key factor.

I know Origi is young and has time to develop, and won't be the same type of striker as studge, but the difference in class today was a chasm and a half.

I disagree. It's set up for a Pulis classic eyebleed game. 0-0 or 0-1.

Great game. Another clean sheat is nice. And a solid defence. Studge and Coutinho on a very high level, but as pointed out solid from all over the place. Good movement and willingness to interact with few touches.

Gini was good, Origi had a goal and was lively. Pretty much noone to ridicule so this will be a short post match thread I reckon 🙂
