It did actually role off shin/ foot thoughI saw Ronnie Whelan scored one of the best goals ever for Ireland in 1988(i won't listen to anyone who says it was a miss kick/shin) asked who he played for, and ended up here nearly 40 years later.

You were 4 or 5 when it happened, surprised you remember much of itNot permanently, no. We effectively did for a little bit when the monarchy went into cold storage while Cromwell was in power but the people never wanted it.
That's some good tracing! I found quite some of my Irish ancestors round that time were getting hung by the Brits in the tower. Quite glad they all had kids early before getting lynched.An ancestor of mine (John Blakiston) signed Charles 1 death warrant. Fortunately, for him, he died before the reformation.
