This thread is funny, no one seems to mention the big thing in all this...we were fucking top of the league at christmas, and then WBA happened, followed by Newcastle....

Just after Jota was injured in a dead rubber

1. Most teams struggle after winning the trophy there is a subconscious tiny drop off in attitude of the players.

These guys had done it all.

Next season they'll be annoyed they underperformed this one and will bounce back.

2. CB injuries

3. Failure to invest over past 2 seasons, particularly until obvs too late with CBs

4. Klopp is not as adaptable as other managers in their formation, and tactics. We've seen us do the same shit week after week. He didn't get CB right either although, Nat Philips who knew?

We played really well on Weds. We played well v Arse. We did what we hadn't done for a long time - come from behind and win v Villa.

Whilst not at full throttle just yet. I feel we're back. We'll challenge again next year. Don't panic lads, it'll be OK

I think that it started earlier than that with the Brighton & Hove Albion game. We seemed to be struggling to creatat chances and take the chances we made. There were a few excpetions. The Wolves 4-0, the Palace 7-0, but by the time of the Brighton & Hove Albion game it was like standing on a beach watching the waters reseed before a tsunami

That's true but no one could claim we looked good while reaching the top of the table. All the top clubs were struggling and we somehow scraped out points. Until all of a sudden we didn't.

I have done so several times including this thread. We went tits-up when we lost all our CBs - Jota injury compounded it further

The CB issue yes but you cannot ignore the way we started to play pedestrian and predictable in midfield and attack. That could have been avoided by moving the ball faster.

Not at all that simple. VVD, in particular, and Matip are key to playing quickly from back to front. And, when we started dropping Hendo into the back after Matip went out, that is when things went from okay to awful really fast.

TAA, Sadio, and Firmino forgetting how to pass the ball to their own teammates or, at best, two yards behind their run, is what has led to our lack of fluidity. Thiago, surprisingly, has been the same - as has Keita.

We may be predictable sometimes, but really poor execution by our key playmakers is a bigger issue.

Yes poor execution...so basically these playera are like robots who could never adapt to changing situation like proper world class players always do.
