Winter transfers

We need three cbs in the next two years and we need to replace VVD.

Why on earth would I give a fuck about guehi, in particular, in that context?

We're not projecting stability and a winning team right now so feels less likely that players with options such as Guehi will choose us.

We are in a very weird position. We've signed (and resigned) players for the present but all indicators are that we're in a transition and need to be signing for 2 seasons from now.

Slot, Edwards and Hughes have made a bit of a mess.

TBF, last season was meant to be our transition season but Slot won the PL and only bringing in Chiesa.

Players will want to move to us no matter what in all honesty. Look at Utd. Dogshit but still sign players who have multiple offers.

Obviously there are a multitude of reasons as to why a player will move to Club A over Club B. Money, length of contract, state of the club, the manager, his chances of playing, the clubs' reputation, chance of winning trophies, family situation et al infinitum.

On most of those we are very competitive and on some exceptional. With the players we've signed last Summer and the high chance of becoming a starter (esp. for a CB or a replacement for Mo.) and the chance to win trophies, we are a very attractive proposition.

Clearly we've bought, and already have, some top class (even world class) players and also it's just as obvious we will get better and better as we solve some of the current issues (with or without this manager). Any agent/player with half a brain will work that out.

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the situation of Jan Paul van Hecke at Brighton having been impressed with his recent performances.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that both Liverpool and Tottenham have been watching the 25-year-old.

“Liverpool and Tottenham have both been watching Van Hecke,” he told Football Insider.

“I used to think he was a solid defender but not much more than that, but to be fair to him, over the last season or two he has really improved his game.

“He’s showing every week for Brighton that he is better than just an ordinary defender, and that’s what’s highlighted his talent to these other clubs.

“Those are two very attractive options for him and something I’m sure he will take notice of if they are going to make a move for him.

“Liverpool have been keeping an eye on him because of their situation, and if he becomes available for whatever reason, they may well make a move.

“Tottenham also want reinforcements and he’s somebody who has been on their radar for a while.

“If Brighton keep struggling like they have been recently, then that opportunity might come up.”
