How can the IAAF allow a country to not test their athletes?

As for Bolt..wow, he thinks he can go quicker and hit 9.40
 
Carl Lewis is quoted as saying :

"When people ask me about Bolt I say he could be the greatest athlete of all time. But for someone to run 10.03 one year and 9.69 the next, if you don't question that in a sport that has the reputation it has right now, you're a fool. Period."
 
I've done a little bit of reading up on Jamaica's drug testing. There is no random testing carried out in Jamaica, it's all pre arranged and athletes can go months without being tested.

That is probably the main reason why Jamaica dominate sprint events.

Yeah maybe.

I'd just expect that Jamaican athletes in other events would be showing improvements as well, if the testing was so easy to cope with.

isn't this like the Chinese dominance in swimming a few years ago, they kept breaking world records claiming its was a diet of seaweed or something but turned out to be drugs.

I hope for the sports sake he is clean.

I hope Bolt is legit however I doubt it. Doesn't make sense. I would imagine if records were legit we would be back at 9.8 or so.

some moroccon got tested at the champs like everyone else and tested positive. if bolt was on something it would show during the grandprix sessions or at the champs. traces will remain in the body for a while and the effects, as I understand them, only make a difference if taken as close to competition as possible, which would mean that taking the substances during the off season would have negligible impact on performace. Bolt is a physical freak who has challwnged the misconception that tall people can't run

It depends entirely on the drugs that are used. Some can have lasting benefits long after they've left the system.

Take something like ephedrine. Proven to have no benefit to performance on a one off basis. However if you take it for a few weeks at a time it can help you burn up body fat and get leaner before competition. You then stop taking it, keep a strict diet and you get to competition leaner and free of evidence.
