Obviously he's better than Hodgson, although his last season was a disaster.

If it's true he's been sacked from Inter then would you have him back?

I think he'd do alright if he did come back. We've finally got a half decent Alonso replacement in Meireles so Rafa's 4-2-3-1 might work again.

However i'd like to see some fresh ideas so its a no from me.

You'd say no, unless you knew that budgie was going to be here longer than one season, then it would be yes

Then we would be arguing that if we were willing to sack budgie for Rafa, we should have been willing to sack him for someone else.

So in theory, we are never going to be happy if Rafa is appointed again.

Which is fair enough. For all the good work he did, he had some equally stupid moments. Hopefully we get the appointment right and the timing as well.

But Rafa is not the answer. But if he is indeed appointed, i'd not be thinking about jumping off a bridge.....you guys should be glad to know that.

Ex manager back:

Rafa too soon,
Ged Houllier no thanks
Roy for Roy, at least we'd see some attacking football but no thanks
Souness Dear God no,
Kenny Caretaker until summer and kept on if he does good? Yes Please.

Given Gerrard, Carra, and Torres seem at the very least complicit in his removal in the first place, regardless of what you think of Rafa as a manager his return would probably not be constructive for a team that is already a mess. Unless he binned them all off in January.

In answer to the original question - absolutely not. Other managers and fans would have a very happy Christmas if we reappointed Rafa, and I wouldn't blame them. Dropping Rafa into the current set-up would be priming the detonator on a timebomb. Norfolk 'n' way.

I dont think so. Other managers love us with Budgie at the helm. Guaranteed 3 home points and a smile and a handshake at the end.
I agree with you on Rafa coming back though. It will divide us further. Though a couple of more Newcastle- like performances and I would be fervently wishing for anyone but budgie.

Depends who the other options are (or indeed if there are any).

Don't want -
Frank Rijkaard (don't think his tactics suit this league and I don't think he could adapt)
Louis Van Gaal (his spells at Barca made me hate him)
Budgie

I do want someone that fits into one (or more) of these categories
1. Someone with a track record of winning trophies (not 30 years ago in the Danish league)
2. Young manager with potential
3. Someone who has a Liverpool related background

Rafa fits two of these (although we all know the potential problems), Kenny fits two of these (although he brings his own problems), Roy fits none of these.

I'd also be willing to gamble on someone like Coyle, if we don't have the money to get in a big name.

I'd even settle for Gerrard as player manager with Kenny as assistant, I really want a change in manager.

I like Coyle. I know a lot of people think he is inexperienced, but he'll manage at the highest level eventually, and I wouldn't mind getting in on the ground floor. Has a galvanising effect on his squads, and even has Bolton playing football below knee height some of the time.

He looks fucking gormless though. And would all our 'big-name stars' respect him, given that he's never won anything, either as a manager or a player? That may be a moot point if we end up selling Torres and Reina admittedly, but I'm not prepared to accept that scenario just yet.

It's not like Torres's club honours fill the cabinet.

Everyone who has worked with Coyle say he is brilliant on a personal level.

I don't think it's going to happen, I'm just saying it's not a choice I would hate. I'd have him above the multitude of young foreign coaches who also haven't done much.

You're right in what you say about Roy, but the rest would lap up the prospect of us deepening the malaise by bringing Rafa back. They were all praying we wouldn't let him go in the first place.

In all conditions, George. He's a man's man. None of this poofy Armani shite.

So?

So it didn't stop HodgePodge becoming our manager!

Anyway Coyle would deffo be an improvement

We're strongly linked with Coyle today on Bolton fan forums - 'insiders' claiming he's leaving them for us and taking Cahill.
