Young players watch

Las Palmas beat Atletico Madrid at home with a goal scored in added time.
Bajcetic with a solid performance. Played the entire game.

Now we’re talking!

BTW that Croatian GK of Las Palmas looked impressive on the highlights.

From the DOF’s perspective, bringing Bajtetic back and making sure Slot gives him a fair chance to stake his claim is the only right move. He has 2 years left on his contract, if you leave him for another year to marinate in La Liga you’re almost guaranteeing he will walk away for free in 2027 or in heavily cut-price deal in 2026.

Only if he’s back in Liverpool and getting regular minutes a contract extension looks realistic. What does Bajtetic have that emotionally ties him to the club? The manager who gave him his debut is gone, not many of his youth team mates remain - we need to give him a reason to stay and that can only be a chance to break into the 1st team at Liverpool.

needs more Bajcetic:

Las Palmas want £100 mill.

I know it's only a record of all his touches and you don't always get the context to those touches but there isn't anything there that makes me think he is ready to play in the premier league.
He is keen on jumping in too which could get him in trouble in a quicker league.
I am just not seeing the hype at all.
Not that I am claiming to be much of a judge

I don't know about all that. True, you can't judge his whole performance by watching a compilation, but it still shows glimpses of class imo and it's also against one of the best teams in Europe.

He’s proved he can play in the Premier League already, I think, at 17. Hopefully that year of development missed through injury will not hamper his career long-term. He was probably still playing through the rust at Salzburg, but he is looking back to his old self at Las Palmas - they now have momentum to stay up and if he can anchor them to staying up he’ll come back full of confidence.

A pat on the back must go to Nat Phillips for this week's loan watch.

The cult hero struggled to make the first XI under Paul Warne at Derby but since John Eustace has come in, the former Liverpool defender has been a mainstay.

And Derby are looking good for safety now
after their 3-1 win over promotion-chasing West Brom on Easter Monday. In the last 10 games, they have won five, drawn two and lost three - which is decent form for a relegation-threatened side.

Phillips has been at the heart of that but his side have a huge six-pointer on Saturday at Hull. That game is 20th vs 21st and a win would be huge for Derby.

But another loan to the Championship for another Liverpool star is not working out. Poor Kaide Gordon has played just 296 minutes all season across stints at Norwich (terminated in January) and now Portsmouth. He has not even been in the squad for the last three Pompey games.

"former Liverpool defender"... Is he not on our books anymore?

Pity about Doak and Dann's injuries. Koumas got restricted to mainly substitute roles since Feb too. Wasted season for Gordon given both failed loan moves to Norwich and Portsmouth.

Las Palmas fans apparently don't appreciate his style of play. Seems like they want him to be more of a playmaker and less of a destroyer.

The sensations of the debut were just that, sensations, a desire to please at the moment.

I quote what the commentators said yesterday on Cope: "... Bajcetic looks like he's exhausted, and 20 minutes into the game... the way he walks, runs, even stands, it's as if he's exhausted... Bajcetic is slow, slow, slow... not slow, the next thing..."

I don't know if it's because of the inactivity, but I agree with what they said on the radio.

Another notch in the ranks of those who put this squad together?

It's not because of inactivity, because he was coming off a spell at Salzburg. I do want to say that I was surprised that his loan was cut so easily when he arrived.

I don't think he's slow. I saw a play 10 minutes into the match where he sprinted, almost outpacing the entire Barça team. What I think is that, for whatever reason, he's not capable of staying consistent throughout the match. In his debut, he came on in the 70th minute, had a good 20 minutes, and no one noticed, but now we're seeing the consequences.

The solution is easy with Campaña's return: use him for the 20 minutes he can perform well at the end, and that's it.

He's good, but I think he's trying to prove himself too much, and he looks a bit erratic and a bit lacking in physicality

We have to be realistic, if he were a machine, Salzburg wouldn't have let him go, as he would be 13th or 14th in the Spanish league. In Austria, which is a minor league, he's 4th in a 12-team league. I'm not saying he can be a big help to us, but we're not going to get an Essugo

Like Kirian, Fuster, Moleiro... He'd excel more in positional play. But he's a good player and will give us a lot.

I don't care if he plays even half a minute for UD again. They should bring him back. And it's a real pain for Martínez to think this guy can be a center back.

The way he marks the Celta striker is a joke. Ridiculous

Yesterday was the best game I've seen him play in yellow. Omnipresent and cutting through everything that was happening around him

Well, I honestly disagree. I don't know if it's his best game because the truth is, all of them have been pretty weak, but yesterday I don't even know how many balls he lost. Because we have the misfortune of losing Kirian this season. Otherwise, for me, he'd be a bench player like Pelmard.

I also thought his game was weak. I don't see anything in him at the moment. He's young and all, but he flies very unnoticed

He doesn't offer himself or provide a clean outlet for the ball.

That said, he played a good defensive game yesterday. Very, very good.

But he has, or is presumed to have, playmaking qualities, and that was his weakness yesterday.

Well, I think doing what he's good at yesterday was crazy. Obviously, if we want him to come out with the ball or break lines like Roque Mesa did in his day, we'd be making a mistake because none of the players starting in the starting lineup have those qualities. Nor does his play help much in that regard.
