Most of the players this thread is related to are introduced in that link. To give a rough idea of who to look out for, this is a reasonably probable match day squad for the coming Youth Cup (players aged between 15 and 18 on 31st August 2013):

Fulton - GK
McLaughlin - RB
Jones - CB
Brewitt - CB
Maguire - LB
Rossiter - CM
Lussey - CM
Chirivella - AM
Ojo - LWF
Canos - RWF
Sinclair - CF

Crump - GK
Polgar - CB
Cleary - CB
Brannagan - AM
Wilson - AM

That's a promising enough bunch.

The link also answers the long asked question of where is Richie Partridge

Yes, pretty promising. That XI includes 7 players who'll very likely be good enough to make a few first team appearances at the very least: McLaughlin, Jones, Rossiter, Chirivella, Ojo, Canos, and Sinclair. By reputation, Rossiter is probably the most highly rated youth since Sterling: apparently he was with the u21s recently, was only 16 a few months ago, and not some kind of physical freak at all.

Rossiter could actually be the much anticipated 'new Gerrard'. He's even plays with a pensive/ grumpy arse look about him.

Did you miss out O'Hanlon, or was he released as well? Or you don't think he'll be up to much?

That's what they say. Yan Dhanda, meanwhile, could well be the rather less anticipated 'new Aquilani'. And Herbie Kane the new Rossiter!

No, I originally put him in the XI, but then remembered that we'd signed Canos and Chirivella, so meant to bump him to the bench, but forgot.

Personally I've always been a bit disappointed by him, he seems to have made the least impact of any of the recent high profile signings. I've heard he had a lot of problems settling, though, so hopefully he'll be ok. He certainly started for the u18s the other week.

Any NI based fans (or other fans) going to see some of the Milk Cup games next week?

Dont know if it has been posted already but McLaughlin signed a new contract last week.
Good news!

I remember when everyone on koptalk was talking about Partridge and how he was gonna make it into the first team.

Since I saw the clip of Harry Wilson from the milk cup I've kept an eye out. Hope he's one of the stars of the future.

Are Chirivella and Canos already signed? Can anyone give me a link with an official confirmation?

Yeah it was mentioned in the youth thread that was locked by you know who.

It wasn't me.
Anyway that sort of news should be posted as a thread in itself, not hidden away.

This thread should be used for following the youths and reserves games and progress.

I locked it - It's a brilliant thread, but now it's time for a new one for this year ... It's in the vault for those who want to re-read it.

There's a thread on Sergi Canos and it includes a photo of him at the Academy holding a Liverpool shirt, so that's certain.

I think there's plenty of evidence to suggest Chirivella is also done. I'm sure the RAWK thread mentions an Instagram conversation between Canos and him talking about their future at Liverpool. Plus there's been a few other signs... but as for official confirmation, no. But then these youth signings are rarely officially confirmed anyway - the best sources tend to be their own Twitter etc accounts.

You may have pressed the 'lock thread' button. But we all know it wasn't you who locked that thread Wiz.

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign highly rated Spanish youngster Pedro Chirivella from Valencia

14 Jul 2013 16:59

La Liga side demanding £3.5m for the midfielder, but Reds could hold out for £2m and let the dispute go to a tribunal. Liverpool have snapped up Valencia youngster Pedro Chirivella on a four-year deal, writes writes The Sunday People's Tom Hopkinson. The 17-year-old midfield sensation is one of the rising stars of Spanish football. Valencia are demanding around £3.5million for the player with The Merseyside club offering around £2m less. If no deal can be reached, then a tribunal will set the final fee.

Chirivella was on the verge of joining Barcelona in 2001 after Valencia accepted a bid for him, but the player himself turned down the chance to join the Catalan giants. The Reds also tried to sign another Spanish youngster, 16-year-old Mario Rodriguez from Real Madrid, but he turned down their offer and agreed a four-year deal at the Bernabeu.

U18s currently 2-1 up against Birmingham, second half started about 10 minutes ago. Goals from Wilson and Ryan Kent - it seems Canos and Chirivella have both just come on as subs. 🙂
