Rodgers was clever because he knew Arsenal like to play with just one holding midfielder, in this case Mathieu Flamini. Liverpool capitalised by having Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho come in from wide and sit either side of Flamini, so he did not know who to pick up.
Since Sterling was pushed up front for the first time in Liverpool's defeat by Manchester United last weekend they have looked a far greater threat and much more like the team they were last season. Regardless of the problems in other areas of their team, getting that sort of intensity back in their attack on a regular basis is the key to a successful second half of the season. Once they have Daniel Sturridge back fit, it will make a massive difference, but using Sterling in this way means they are definitely heading in the right direction.

I thought it was mad the way Borini got sent off, I'm not sure it was justified, yeah he'd had previous and had been warned by the ref. But it was still a bit harsh, especially as the ref seemed to have such a low grasp of English.
I mean yeah, Borini hasn't brought much to the squad, he constantly follows Balotelli about complains about him, rather than just playing his own game. But that doesn't mean he needed to be dealt with so harshly. It's not what the site, I mean team, is about.

No. That was a straight red for dissent.
Borini should have got off, it's was a yellow card so a no brainer. The problem I have with it was that Flamini's was a blatant second yellow as well but he got let off because he'd have got a red, why the double standards?

He's what we've got thanks to management failing, & I don't get slating him just cos you don't like him when he's doing what he can.

How long is left on Borini's contract? I reckon his agent has told him he's never getting paid 90k anywhere else for the rest of his life and to run it down no matter what. Then on a free he can negotiate much better terms with his next club.

I think his contract is until 30 June 2017.

No he is not paid anywhere near it. That is what was reported he wanted from QPR. He could well have been pricing himself out of the move though.
Well he's getting a nice pay off whenever he goes regardless.
I believe Borini is on £60,000 a week. However, one other thing to consider is that the deal with Roma came with certain add-ons relating to appearances, which would amount to an extra £1m if activated, so I suppose that might be another reason for the reluctance to play him.
