As I said I didn't care where he played as long as he came in as I thought he's be superb and after Skrtel was our best player

Sterling?

Allen started off brightly but faded. He was let down by Lucas but I don't think anyone in that midfield can claim a "superb" performance after being overrun by Norwich for large parts of the game.

Don't know what game dreamy was watching but sterling was easily our MOTM and has been for the last few games. Allen had a good first half and faded in the 2nd. Lucas was just poor, he really can't play the hendo role at all. With his limited ability he can only play backup to gerrard for the holding role.

Considering the role he was asked to play I thought he was immense.

Condescending Dreamy is actually thicker than the dopey dreamy.
That takes some doing.

I agree about Sterling, but I think you're being harsh on Lucas. Thought he had a great game. I thought he made a real nuisance of himself putting Norwich defenders under pressure in their own half.

He was fairly poor I thought, he tried to support but showed why he's not that great offensively, he also gave away yet another needless freekick (to add to a few earlier in the game) in a dangerous position in the dying minutes of the game, when Sterling seemed to be causing them problems and pressuring them from trying to pump the ball forward, Lucas comes running over and completely body-checks their player. When will he ever learn?

Yeah I do remember that incident. And I think he did it earlier on as well and the referee missed it. Although I still thought he did ok for 90% of the game.

I thought having him and Lucas caused us problems, because they both like to sit. When Henderson plays, for all his flaws, he breaks quickly from the midfield and rushes to close players higher up the pitch. Allen and Lucas seemed content to sit when we didn't have the ball and try to provide a shield to the back four. Which you'd have to argue in the grand scheme of things, it didn't work, because we conceded two and invited pressure throughout.

Lucas' record when he's figured this season with Gerrard in midfield isn't great and I don't think it's a coincidence that Gerrard has looked great for months, but with the added protection of Lucas and Allen at the weekend, he struggled. Too many cooks and all that.

I think ALL the players went deep, and made our normally great pressing game non-existent. It invited all kinds of pressure. Don't know if Henderson's work rate would have made any difference. As a team we were seriously nervous.

When you've got three players in midfielder dropping deeper and deeper, the onus is on the front three to come deep for the ball. This was my point about Henderson, he's always looking to break quickly and be or provide an outlet, it encorages the team to move forward with him too.
