Indeed. Send him on with half an hour to play and Shanks' instructions to Keegan ringing in his ears: "Just go out there and drop hand grenades all over the place".

Liverpool have confirmed they'll give Daniel Sturridge every opportunity to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with Norwich City.

The striker had to be withdrawn in the 66th minute of last weekend's 3-2 win over Manchester City.

Sturridge has since underwent further assessment with the club's medical team at Melwood and a small strain was detected following a scan.

The 24-year-old will now undergo a treatment programme in order to try and be available for the trip to Carrow Road.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will miss this weekend's trip to Norwich City, according to his uncle Dean who has appeared on television talking about the injury, but could return the following week against Chelsea. Dean rated his nephew's chances as 'borderline' but with a 'decent chance'.

Dean Sturridge is quoted, saying: "He's definitely out for Norwich, he's borderline for Chelsea. I think he's got a decent chance for the Chelsea game."

It would be interesting to see him come on as an impact sub vs Norwich as he can just unleash for 20 mins and he'll be making runs all over the place!

I'd be comfortable with Coutinho, Sterling and Suarez as the attacking trio for this. Not worth risking from the start if a bit of a rest will make a Chelsea start more likely.

With respect, if we are confident we can have him fit for Norwich - not saying we are, but if .... why would we rest him?

It really depends on what the medical team thinks, but I'd rather not take the risk of playing him, making it worse and having him ruled out for the other 3 games. If the rest gives him a better chance of making it fit for the remaining 3 games, that's the option I'd go for.

I really want him available for Chelsea. I want us to be in full barnstorming mode against them.

If he's fit for Norwich play him. If he's a doubt, then don't risk it.

We should all have been medics. FFS.

It's obvious really, the long we rest him, the more chance it has of healing, he could probably play against Norwich but risks damaging it because he's won't be quite over the injury. Obviously it's down to how much he progresses before the weekend, but I'd be reluctant to play him if it means we could then miss him for the three biggest games in ages.

Daniel Sturridge has a chance of playing in Liverpool's visit to Norwich City on Sunday after scans revealed he suffered a small hamstring strain against Manchester City.
The Liverpool striker was withdrawn in the 66th minute of Sunday's 3-2 win over City, a result that has left Brendan Rodgers' team four wins away from the Premier League title, having fallen awkwardly under a challenge from Pablo Zabaleta. Sturridge has received treatment at the club's Melwood training ground this week and Liverpool will give the England international every opportunity to prove his fitness for the trip to Carrow Road.

A statement released by Liverpool on Wednesday read: "Sturridge has undergone further assessment with the club's medical team at Melwood and a small strain was detected following a scan. The 24-year-old will now undergo a treatment programme in order to try and be available for the trip to Carrow Road."
Sturridge has scored 20 Premier League goals in Liverpool's remarkable pursuit of a first league title since 1990 and, though he struggled against City, his absence would be a concern for Rodgers with just four games to go. The former Chelsea striker missed nine matches earlier in the season with an ankle ligament injury and, though Luis Suarez produced a phenomenal goalscoring return in that period, the duo have been instrumental in Liverpool's title challenge.

The Liverpool manager is already without the influential – and previously ever-present – Jordan Henderson for games against Neil Adams' team, Chelsea and Crystal Palace after the midfielder was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Samir Nasri on Sunday.

Norwich, however, have proven a fruitful source of points and goals for Liverpool in recent seasons. The league leaders have won their last four encounters by an aggregate score of 18-3 with Suarez responsible for 11 of their goals. The Uruguay international scored four times in December's 5-1 win over Norwich and has produced hat-tricks on his last two visits to Carrow Road.

I think I'd leave him on the bench if we're not sure and try to win it without him. If he's marginally fit we can bring him on if we need to but if we can do it without him we shouldn't risk him before Chelsea.

In some odd way, it might be a good idea to "waste it" on Norwich, then we're back to having to win every game again, which we seem to have been dealing quiet well with. But I wouldn't be too disappointed if we battered them either.

If we only need a draw going into the Newcastle game I'd be most worried. If any game is gonna get to the players it'll be the final one, all that pressure in seemingly winnable game at Anfield to seal the title & knowing a draw would do may not be the best scenario.
