The popular belief is a straight £20m , but there are stories arising saying it's £14m up front rising to £20m based on Champions League qualification and trophies £1m each event.

If we've paid £20M then that's gonna sting a bit, cos he just doesn't seem like a £20M player, but I guess the definition of what one of those is is constantly changing.

That I think is key. At this stage it's what we're relying on to close the gap between us and the very top teams. I wouldn't have paid the size of premium for Downing that the £20 mill.reports suggest (£14 mill.and add-ons is acceptable) but even at £20 mill.I'll have been wrong if he turns out to play a significant part in our making the progress we need to make.

Just sobered up there for the first time since arriving. Had two cracking nights. Got a phone and our social insurance numbers sorted too. Will work on getting the CV sorted and look for jobs tomorrow. Must find a place to live too. So busy enough day tomorrow. Its 2am here now.

If we perform well enough for those bonuses to be paid then the transfers were well worth it.
Henderson and downing would be my first choice but im real happy with our new negotiation model

£20 million for an English player going to one of England's big Clubs you'd think it would be talked about more.
Anyway, lets hope Downing does the business for us. Can't say i'm doing cartwheels but he's a proper winger who can beat a man and deliver a killer cross so i'm happy enough.
