Basically according to his agent, Willie McKay, Newcastle won't be offering him a contract - which clearly means the greedy bastard has asked for more money than Newcastle are willing to pay. He says Barton will play out the rest of his contract and then leave on a Bosman.

I wonder whether Newcastle will try to cash in on him. If he's pissed off you probably don't want him around the squad.

Sad thing is there will be a few clubs probably willing to meet his wage demands.
 
I think it is an assumption Jack. He's been one of their best players all season long.
What other reason can you think of?
 
I dont know. It says there that he is on £70k per week with a contract on offer for £56k. Maybe he just doesnt want a paycut, or wants to leave for someone who makes a better offer.

Or maybe, just maybe his pissed off that he is at a club that has fired successive managers, sold their best player and not invested back in the team. Now they are making noises about losing Enrique and again showing no ambition (in particular hiring a gambling buddy of the chairmans).
Maybe hes thinking that he showed enough loyalty when they were relegated and he stayed in the championship and helped them get promoted etc.

I KNOW he is a cunt, for other reasons of course but i dont see anything wrong with him wanting to leave Newcastle and maybe try and win something.

The best bit is he doesnt actually want to leave! He's been very open about valuing the clubs support whilst he was fucking up, and was looking for a 3yr extension on the same terms. They stuck with 2 yrs on a 30% reduction..... for arguably one of their player's of the year.

I want to believe in Joey Barton. He's a top player, he done an interview on SSN earlier in the season and he seemed to have this victimisation attitude, I was really disappointed, as all he needs to do is show a bit of remorse and most people would probably be willing to give him a second chance.

Ignoring his personality though he'd be an excellent on field addition for us

Barton is a decent player. Not sure I'd want us to sign him mind.

Modo, nobody is talking about signing him. He was called in the first post for being greedy, when in actual fact the article showed that all he was doing was refusing a contract that cut his wages by 20%
