In answer to the original question - don't know, I'm afraid, but they were prosecuted for it and the place changed hands shortly afterwards, so the story was definitely kosher. (Presumably not Char Siu then.)

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Liverpool have received five formal offers for the club. According to the paper, Martin Broughton and Barclays Capital hope to conclude the sale within a month and a source close to the process believes that Kenny Huang, the only bidder to have gone public with his interest, is one of the five and is a serious contender. Yahya Kirdi though, who had stated he would conclude a deal for the club within a week, is believed to not be one of the formal offers, although according to the Telegraph there is a bid from the Emirate of Sharjah on the table, who was believed to be at one point Kirdi’s backers.

I think Rafa4 has just breathed some life into it.
The longer this goes on and these ghost bidders are being spoken of, not seeking publicity, the more sure I am that Sheiks Mohammed or Khalifa are around in the mix somewhere.

It makes no sense to any investor to buy now all they need to do is bide there time and buy us when the deadline comes it would save them millions. I wouldln't think anything will happen till then. The quote from sahra group was intresting. When they said they weren't intrested "for now".
