Henry - 'We do not expect miracles overnight and nor should anyone else. In Brendan we are recruiting a young and talented manager. He will bring a style of RELENTLESS ATTACKING FOOTBALL we think our players will respect and our supporters will embrace Brendans style of football'

Until the differences between DoF and Sporting Director are properly defined and explained I don't think it is that clear. At present, given the existing templates elsewhere for both those roles, I'm not sure Rodgers would find a Sporting Director much more tolerable than a DoF. Maybe FSG have redefined it in a special way but, again, that's more reason than ever to explain it here and now. There's no need to name names, just explain it. All of this 'technical' waffle isn't helpful either without further explanation, either.

Why do they need to explain it buddy?
Rodgers has signed a deal that he is happy with based upon an agreement that we will not have a traditional dof.
I dont see any problem. Rodgers will make the final decisions based upon a commitee advisement. So hes the football ceo and the others (chairman and cfo) will be part of any decision making process.

He's said he won't work with a dof or a sporting director (not sure what diff is!).
Although it might not seem that clear from the outside Im sure its been well mapped out within.

What was Comolli's first title again? Director of tiddlywinks and backflips or something like that. Maybe they'll bring back that made up position.

Why not explain it? Why not tell the fans what the set-up will be? If they're happy with it, proud even, and it's new, why not tell the supporters and end the speculation? Ayre waffling on about 'analysis by committee' is of no help at all and only causes confusion. (It also hands writers with a headline.)

Its not that hard to understand is it:

Fenway Sports Group (FSG), Liverpool’s owner, is set to implement a strategy involving a sporting director but, at least in the short term, the role will be performed by an ensemble rather than an individual. Rodgers will be expected to work in tandem with a trio of technical, recruitment and administration specialists, but he will have the final say on transfers as the ultimate head of department. FSG sees this approach as the best way to ensure that a series of checks and balances are in place to prevent players being signed for fees that exceed their values.

I hope that is right but it is not the impression that the press conference gave.
Hopefully that is down to a poor choice of words on Ayre's part rather than a genuine misunderstanding of what the structures around Rodgers will be and what power they will have.

Interview with Werner at the moment on LFC TV.

Saying that we're in the process of securing a number of key people in "football operations department" that will be met with enthusiasm from supporters.

Ian Ayre on now.
If I close my eyes I see Rick Parry speaking

Pity they didnt put you on the press conference instead of Werner. Your explanation sounds fine to me and I hope thats the way it is.

Rodgers neatly negotiated the subject of reported interest in many of his former players at Swansea, turning his answer into a love letter to south Wales. "The only thing I want to say about Swansea is my deepest gratitude for what they have done. It was a very special two years I had there. We created history, it's a sad day to leave."

The question over a reported "gentleman's agreement" with Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins over not recruiting his former players remains unanswered. The coming weeks may provide a more definitive response.

Unless you've been having an old chinwag with henry or werner you don't know this for sure and are just parroting various speculative reports, as we all can, to different extents. No need for some condescending message from the mount.

Its from Barrett, so I think its veeery close to how the set up will be. As for the last part it wasnt as that at all, but its starting to get on my nerves that people use every chance they get to moan about the owners.

Is that really a journalist from the times?
How unprofessional.

And it's getting on my nerves that you act like their over-zealous PR man. Bow and scape all you want but stop telling the rest what to think.
