Hmmmm.... I agree on Lucas's limitations and think it could be smart move to sell him now while his value is higher than ever.
But I actually think he'll play more games than any of our other midfielders next season. I think the management/coaching team love Lucas. I think KD likes to have two in the middle who don't get ahead of the ball, we'll play with 4 or max 5 attackers, not six.

i think Lucas is a nerd and i think that's why benitez liked him so much. i think ngog's also a bit of a nerd as well - you can tell by the way he runs: it's a really wimpish, socially inadequate run.

Can't be having that Vlad but then again I love and rate our Dirk very highly. Lucas was good last year and since we didn't purchase any DM's this season we can expect to see a lot of Lucas in that role again. I read from a few here that Kenny doesn't pigeon hole midfielders into DM's and AM's but rather midfielders who can do the lot. However, saying that I think we will play with a holding player who will allow the rest to express themselves. It would have been lovely if we signed M'Villa (insert random CM beast here) but we didn't so Lucas will get games and he's earned them too.

Is he an all-rounder midfielder? What special do you see in Lucas? I struggle to find anything special from him.
So when Gerrard comes back to the team will Lucas still be playing? Or on the bench? And if does what about other players? And how many games will he play if assuming Gerrard will play majority of the games?
Some people are making him look like Xavi, Fabregas, Rossi or some other brilliant players who have something special in them. He is not. Get over it.

He never bottles a tackle and in many of the big games last year he stood up and was counted.
Now if John Henry wants to buy us a power house DM or a rolls royce midfielder ala Javi Martinez then great. I'd be happy to see Lucas spend more time on the bench than the field but at the mo he's the only one capable and obedient enough to play as the DM and he will get games. Ah but not in comparison to some of my other posts.
Obviously I over-state Lucas's limitations but the simple fact is we have got some wonderful players now who could propel towards a league title challenge but Lucas is not one of them. If he starts 30+ league matches for us this season we have no chance of a top 4 finish.
