The big fish is Cliff Lee ... I actually feel he may just stay with the Rangers:

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Cliff Lee "would love to be" part of the Texas Rangers next season. He's just not sure if that's what will happen.

"I like this team. It's a very fun team to play on," Lee said. "I expect this team to do some really good things next year. I don't know if I'm going to be a part of it or not. To be honest with you, I would love to be, but so many things can happen. You never know."

Not a great free agent class really. Crawford, Werth and Beltre are the big position players available. and after Lee there's no real guarantees with the pitching. Webb, Harden, Bedard all have potential to be excellent again but the injury risk is pretty significant.

I cannot believe how old some of these players are ... I remember when I was drafting Magglio Ordonez for Fantasy baseball when he was a rookie!

Jamie Moyer - 48 !

I think he'll have to retire though.

I think he'll pitch again ... He's a lefty, their arms are like rubber.

Baseball rumours are worse than soccer ones. In the last week or so I've read the bo sox are getting grienke, lee, crawford, david wright and albert pujols amongst others!

I think the real interesting thing this summer is what the Yankees do with Jeter

Bosox pick up Ortiz's 1 year option.

World Series MVP Renteria released by the Giants.

NL Cy Young - Roy Halladay

NL ROY - Buster Posey

AL ROY - Neftali Feliz

AL Cy Young is announced tomorrow, it should be Felix Hernandez but it will probably be CC.

I haven't seen anything about the MVP results yet

Victor Martinez goes to the Tigers.

Given the Red Sox were supposed to be a pitching and defence team it made no sense having such a poor catcher behind the plate, but his bat will be missed.

Articles only mention offers from the Orioles 4 for 48m, White Sox 3 for 48 and 4 for 50 from the Tigers.

The Jeter negotiations seem to be getting frosty. 3 years, 45m is where the offer apparently stands and the Yankees told Jeter's agent to feel free to see if he can do better elsewhere. And as yet no other offers exist.

Bill Simmons latest podcast involved him talking to a Yankees buddy of his who made a good point - they know Jeter isn't worth 15m when you break it down but at the same time this is the same Yankees who gave 50m to Kei Igawa who is in AAA, 82m to AJ Burnett, and 300m to A-Rod. To draw a line in the sand and say now we care about budget and value with a Yankees legend is ridiculous.

SImmons suggested that if as expected Beltre leaves for the West Coast the Red Sox should offer Jeter a contract and play him at third where his poor range is less of a factor. It would wind up a lot of Yankee fans

Nice.

Jeter agreed to a deal with the Yankees too. 15-17m for 3 years. Look like the Yankees hardball worked.

he could never really leave, could he? and as he slumps, they'll slump hopefully too!
[/quote]

No, but he was pushing for a silly contract like A-Rod got. And you can't blame him really, he means a lot more to the franchise than anyone else there, Rivera the only one coming close.

Imagine if they had locked Jeter up for 6 years or so and had to stink it up with A-Rod and Jeter on the left side of the infield in their forties. It's a pity they got a sensible deal.

Jeter at 37 is going to be shit, and ARod is already slumping ...

I can see Jeter bouncing back a bit next year, but A-Rod is going to become a cripple with that hip injury
