Easy fellas - Completely missed the first half due to Kaito kicking off. Anyone want to be a superstar and tell me how it went? Cheers y'all.

Somnambulant first half. Swansea playing the rope a dope tactic and in fairness, they've barely been troubled by our attack which has all the bite of an ancient, toothless red setter.

Very good first half, probably the best I've seen us play this season.
We can do better upfront though. A couple of decent chances for Borini and Coutinho.

The midfield is looking balanced and cohesive. Hendo and Lucas have pretty much stopped Swansea from attacking. We even look assured in defence, probably due to our hard working midfielders.
Coutinho looks lively but is having trouble finding players in the box.

Lambert and especially Borini are doing well upfront. Both look hungry and up for it.
Markovic is doing OK so far. Wouldn't be surprised if he's subbed for Lallana in the 2nd half, if he doesn't improve.

Watched Markovic closely today. He did put in a terribly wayward shot given a good opportunity and looked a bit soft on some 50-50's, but he's also not getting any help from Coutinho or Johnson. Quite a few times in the first half, he's shown up in an open position to receive the ball but Coutinho has just shunned him and kept taking the ball inwards instead.

On the other hand, Johnson's average heat map will probably show him being about 30 metres from Brad Jones. A typical Johnson move would be to show up for the ball at the back, take it close to the halfway line and even 5 yards past it if he fancies it, and then pass it back (usually) or dump the ball at Markovic and then retreat. He makes no effort to support Markovic or our attacks and basically just leaves Markovic playing 1 v 2 most of the time. Contrast that to the positions and runs that Manquillo makes on the other flank. I'm not sure if Johnson is just playing to instructions, but this about describes the majority of his pattern of play for 18 months or more.

Could be because Manquillo is playin so far up on the other flank, that he needs to balance it out. Also Johnson is playing on the left.
Most likely direct orders from Brendan.
