Two players off the top of my head.

Alan Smith, once one of the most talented strikers in English football now barely playing for Newcastle. Where did it go wrong?

The 2nd player, don't remember his name but he used to play for Derby. He's a striker, liked scoring against Man U for some reason.

Rob Jones and Titi Camara disappeared off the face of the earth.

Why are all the Irish up at this unearthly hour?

Back on topic: Alan Smith wasn't *that* talented, Modo. Where's Morientes now?

I think Morientes retired a year or so ago.

I just noticed the other day that our Luis Garcia is playing in Mexico now . I like footballers who go off and try something totally different . OK obviously it all about money but why don't more european players go to places like South America ? Actually , just getting a British player to play in Europe is an achievement .

I liked Baros but he needed a pair of blinkers. Clown thought the goal was over by the corner flag. Well, he always ran to it with the ball.

He has a telecom company in GUinea

Is Alan Smith not old? I remember talk about him years ago.

Whatever happened to Fernando Torres?

He started to believe the hype, and his body is giving up. I always think the minute a player thinks he's entitled to medals/trophies he's probably lost the desire required to win one.

Anthony Le Tallec ?

Babel? Dont hear much of him.
[/quote]

He's playing for Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga. He had a flying start scoring 4 goals in the first six games but then went on to be a lazy moaning cunt scoring none in the following eight games.

He got a proper public dressing down from Hoffenheim's goalkeeper this week. Hoffenheim's DOF stated that he thinks Babel deserved it.

To be honest, we could all just check wikipedia but I'm kinda interested in what went wrong?

Le Tallec is back in France, can't remember who he is playing for (Auxerre maybe?). I was in a cafe a few months ago and they had a French football match on the tv. He came on as a sub. He didn't score.

Rob Jones was a brilliant player for us and would have been Englands right back for years instead of Neville, but he got shin splints and after he recovered from them he suffered some bad injuries back and kneee I think?

I know he was released and I don't think he ever played again for anyone?

As far as I remember he retired in his mid 20's because of the injuries.

I remember always throwing the odd bet on him to score lol, he never did though, but that was really weird because he was a clever and very good footballer, he was always great odds for a goal it was 40-1 minimum I think clever fucking bookies must have made a fortune on him!

Probably but it's still a bit mesmerizing to go from being "the shit" to just being shit.

I mentioned two players, Alan Smith and Malcolm Christie.
The Alan smith story is pretty well documented, I think his move to Man U was a big mistake.
Malcolm Christie though is a bit of a riddle. I mean I had the impression that he was kinda talented. Was it injuries?

Rob Jones retired at about 27 (signed for West Ham after we released him but his body was fucked), and as far as I remember (without checking wiki) he runs a childrens nursery somewhere!

Carl Cort - £7m for Newcastle, only remembered him when saw the name Cort playing for Charlton (I think).

Keiron Dyer - at QPR now?
