"Manchester United is the club of my dreams." Let's be the club of his nightmares then.

Do. Not. Want.

Who cares who his favorite club is?

Man U and Chelsea seems to be every young players' fave club... 🙁

Thanx JJ

Defour seems to be the forgotten man. Hardly a mention of the lad!

I have a vague recollection of reading recently that he signed a new deal with Liege. Couldn't swear to it though.

They're the club of his dreams because they're top of the league and keep winning stuff - he didn't grow up supporting them.

From what I've seen, M'Vila is class - and would be a perfect fit for our CM alongside Gerrard or a more Xabi-esque player. I think it'd be a major statement and big step forward if we could beat the likes of Milan and Utd to his signature.

precisely - just like kids growing up in the 70s and 80s loved us 'by default'.

let's sign the best talent - then the next crop of greats can grow up idolizing us again.

Matuidi is shite tbh.

We should be after either M'Vila or Sissoko. Both young, energetic and midfielders for the future.
M'Vila is more a classic DM, while Sissoko can fill in either role in midfield.

I like them both, and for 15 millish we should be interested.

Those M'Vila comments about Utd are 3 months old, so they have nothing to do with Fergie being there on friday.

Better than Matuidi? Or indeed Defour, whom Ginsoak has also been following?
[/quote]

I don't think Matuidi is that good - the fundamental problem being that he's not really a specialist. By which I mean to say that he's not an out and out DM or an out and out enforcer. He's a small, energetic and decently skilful player who might fit in well at somewhere like Arsenal but wouldn't exactly be the sort of role-player we're looking for i.e. a DM who can sit behind Gerrard and Meireles and soak up all the pressure from the opposition.

M'vila or Capoue from Toulouse fit the bill perfectly. Defour on the other hand is probably more of a Meireles type and while an excellent prospect, IMO not the kind of player we want right now.

If Andy Carroll is worth 35m, then yes. It sounds like an inflated fee, but he's very young, has immense power and potential, and is already a full international. How much will the likes of Rodwell and Henderson cost?

Obviously not against the best of oppositions but still...

Yann M'Vila completed 124 passes against Luxembourg tonight, an Opta record since we have been analysing France in 2006

Number of passes is a bit of a dodgy one. When arsenal beat barca the other week they were banging on (whilst barca were winning) about how they'd done twice as many passes. A lot of them were just one twos from a couple of yards apart for no reason. I didn't break arsenals shape, it didn't change the game, it was pointless.

Oh, and they lost.

Saw M'Vila against Lyon the other day and I was very impressed.

If we managed to sign either him or Sissoko, we're laughing.

Yeah, he looks incredibly mature for his age. I've never seen him in a really tough, physical match, though, and I'd like to - because he *looks* like he's got the physical presence to thrive in the PL.

CHELSEA are ready to take on Manchester United in the battle for France ace Yann M’Vila with a £25million offer.

United have been tracking the defensive midfielder at Rennes and were eyeing a £15m deal.

But Carlo Ancelotti’s planned offer would put the Blues in pole position – despite M’Vila saying his dream is to play for United.

M’Vila, 20, is also a target for Liverpool, Spurs, Aston Villa and Real Madrid.

But Chelsea believe they can win what is set to be one of the hottest transfer battles of the summer.

And his arrival would place a big question mark against John Obi Mikel’s position at Stamford Bridge.

The Nigeria star, 24, was another player bound for United until Chelsea stepped in to snap him up from Lyn Oslo in 2006.

M’Vila continues his rise - 9 Oct article

Essential in Rennes, Yann M’Vila has also affirmed himself as an important player in the French national team. With his sights set on the Euro 2012, the midfielder already seems to become a key-player for Les Bleus. However, considering his important potential for improvement, there is still many lines of work to focus on for him.

Lined-up at kick-off by Laurent Blanc, Yann M’Vila celebrated his fourteenth cap with France against Albania. This makes him the player who earned the most caps with “Les Bleus” while playing for Stade Rennes, overtaking Jean Prouff.

This performance is already allowing him to hold a particular place in the club’s history before attacking - maybe in the future – the 92 caps of Sylvain Wiltord (the record over a complete career for a player trained at Rennes’ Academy).

Never had a graduate of the Academy reached such a level so early. Pre-selected for the 2010 World Cup by Raymond Domenech before he even turned twenty. Since then, M’vila has come a long way, and earn huge public and media recognition.

Naturally, it wasn’t all a walk in the park, since the midfielders knew many ups but also a few downs, including a big slump during the second half of the 2010-2011 season, and a few lacklustre displays with “Les Bleus”. His first international goal in Albania last month seems to have given him a boost, triggering a very good month of September with Stade Rennes. As an emerging leader, M’Vila has once again received much media hype during the week before facing Albania yesterday evening.

«I’m not installed, but I’ve taken a lot confidence, the Rennais admitted, interviewed by Le Parisien this Thursday. I’m not afraid anymore to try a trick or a pass, thinking “Beware, if you miss it you can lose your place”. It allows me to try more things”.

His place, M’Vila won in on the pitch, so much that he is now one of the permanent members of the teams even though he could still be qualified to play with France U21. “I am not going to lie: now, I don’t really ask myself any questions when the national coach announces his lists anymore”, he admits. Not as many thrills then, as he could have had when receiving a pre-selection for the World Cup or his first call-up for a friendly against Norway. Seemingly without any difficulty, the Rennes midfielder has brushed away the competition of Alou Diarra, one of Laurent Blanc’s former main men. “He is a great captain, the person I like the most in the French squad. He is always giving me good advice”, M’Vila however affirms about the former Bordeaux-man.

«He has got an international destiny and I can’t see who could take his place in the French squad », Antonetti confirms, who never misses an opportunity to heap praise on his player. “At his position, there are very few players of his quality in Europe”, the Rennes manager continues, not hesitating to affirm that the young international is a “mix of several great defensive midfielders”, with the “understanding of the game of Claude Makelele, the impact power of Patrick Vieira and the passing ability of Yaya Touré».

Didier Deschamps, questioned by France Football on Friday, wasn’t short of praise for the player either, and also compared M’Vila with the Ivorian midfielder. “He reminds me of the Yaya Touré of Barcelone, with a more important execution », the Olympique de Marseille comments. Influenced by his time in Italy, the manager also compares him with a famous Italian midfielder. “He is neither a true defensive midfielder, nor a true centre midfielder, he is both at the same time. In fact, he is what the Italians call a “regista”, the first base for building the moves. The man who sets the play from behind, like Pirlo. With the only difference that M’Vila wins more balls than Pirlo and he is faster. ».

Visibly seduced by the Rennes player, the former French international midfielder is amazed by the precocity of his successor with “Les Bleus”. “He has something rare for his age: he sees, and he sees before. And this is the hardest thing: reading the game, being able to take the information. Then, to achieve it you need the passing quality, the technic and the execution speed required. He has it all”.

Although he quickly affirmed himself as first choice defensive midfielder, M’Vila has worked hard on his attacking input since last season. A background work initiated by Frédéric Antonetti, which started to show its effects at the beginning of 2011. Since, the midfielder has been starting to deliver a few assists, but also managed to score goals. His efforts were crowned with the goal he scored in Tirana early September. “When I scored for France in Albania, it was… magical. Yes, that’s it. Alongside my first cap, this is my best memory”, M’Vila explains.

Although it can’t be seen on the stats sheet, the Rennais is also appearing at the base of more and more attacking moves. Against Nancy, for example, he provided a deep pass to Pitroipa, who went on to assist Montaño for the first goal. In Sochaux, it was him who launched Théophile-Catherine on the left wing, for an action that ended up with Féret’s goal.

In short, for those who doubted it, M’Vila has truly become the barometer of the Stade Rennais. A team that follows the example of its leader, when he shines as well as when he slumps. Indeed, when M’Vila is blocked and unable to find a solution, the whole of Stade Rennes is struggling.

The third captain of the « Rouge et Noir » behind Kader Mangane and Romain Danzé, Yann M’Vila has got several lines of work drawn for this season. In the continuity of last year, it seems obvious that his attacking input needs to be improved again. But the young midfielder, a leader on the pitch, should also affirm himself as one of the leader in the Rennes dressing room, and above all work on the regularity and management of his efforts. “He should channel his playing volume and his energy a bit better to be more efficient”, Deschamps agrees. An effort management which will be highly important with more than fifty games expecting the Stade Rennais this season, to which the games with “Les Bleus” must be added… including, probably, the Euro at the end of the season.

Already very close to the bests in Europe, M’Vila will have to work in order to solve that issue. “With time and experience, it will come”, Deschamps predicts. Who better than him could analyse all the subtleties of the position?

He's bit of a beast. We should certainly be in for this lad if we have a chance of getting him. He'll be one of the top DMs in world football in a year or two. Throw him straight into our midfield, he instantly makes a far more powerful unit in the centre of the park, and offers great protection for the back four. Ideal foundation for the likes of Henderson, Adam, and Gerrard to thrive ahead of him.

i always said a player like him should've been a priority for us this summer, rather than adam or henderson. i rate Lucas fairly highly, but he shouldn't be an automatic starter, and this guy would've been a better option, and also dynamic enough to partner him in the games he does play.

still, i was surprised arsenal failed with their £22m bid in the summer - i never realised he'd go for quite that much.

He's a cracker alright. I think we'd have all been made up had we signed him this summer.

Seeing I've posted this here. You know who my guess is. 😛 (That said, Moussa SISSOKO started the match too.)

We'll buy him and then Chelsea will come along and fuck us again.

Eitherway, does that mean we're on the lookout for DMs? Maybe trying to kill 2 birds with one stone, accessing both together?

On a sidenote:

Two part-time prostitutes suspected of robbing France international midfielder Yann Mvila and a friend face charges in a court hearing on December 6.

According to the source, confirming a report in La Gazette de Montpellier, M'Vila and an unnamed friend agreed a sum with the women to provide services of a sexual nature at a Montpellier hotel following France's friendly with Chile on August 10, which ended 1-1.

The women, named as Ingrid and Sarah and described as "occasional prostitutes" in the case, met the players in a nightclub.

The following morning the players awoke to find they had been robbed of expensive watches, one of which was valued at 13,000 euros, laptop computers and mobile telephones.

Mvila, who plays for French first division side Rennes, and his friend immediately contacted police to report the incident, leading to the arrest of the pair.

Prostitution in France (the exchange of sexual services for money) is not illegal, but several surrounding activities are. These include soliciting, procuring, operating a brothel (maisons closes, lupanar or bordel in French), living off the avails, and paying for sex with someone under the age of 18.

Why would you call Police and bring attention to the fact that you have to pay for sex?

Thick twat.

Yeah, and was disappointed cos he's married with 2 kids - 1st child at age of 18 and a newborn last yr.

As Sunny and I talked about elsewhere Javi Martinez would be another brilliant signing.

There've been awfully quiet around him despite him completely owning the Euro's U21 this Summer and looking like a monster prospect.

Probably Barca bound or something.
