two questions that puzzle me dave,

99.big eric shouldnt even be in the top 500.

22mcmanaman, we all know who will be no1 but you cant tell me that he deserves to be in the top 50,is this based on ability dave.

Some wonderful memories on there...

Ronnie Whelan was always my hero growing up, and I met him at a function a few weeks back. A smashing fella, he was asked his favourtite goal ever, and he replied the one in that video, in the 85 FA Cup semi vs the scum...

Later (after we'd have a few pints together and talked about growing up in Dublin, how crap the Republic will be for the next 10years, etc...) I reminded him that right after the game he'd told Brian Moore that he felt he'd over hit that shot, and he was pretty sure that the wind took it down by quite a bit.

Without even pausing, he replied "Ah yeah Derek, but it's a f#$!in' good player can judge the wind that well..!"

Brilliant stuff. It was nice being 10years old again for an hour or two...

its got to be king kenny surely? but stevie and robbie will be up there for sure. rushy, hansen, billy liddel and roger hunt will be up there as well. souness, keegan and toshack are still to be added as well.

How are they deciding this poll? If its a public vote i wouldnt be surprised to see Robbie winning it, Robbie and Stevie will be in the top 5 im sure, maybe with Digger, Kenny, Rushie.

Just seen the video on the official site, what a player he was. Fantastic ability to bring the ball out of defence. A funny moment in the clip is when King Kenny is asked about him, and he replies; crap, don't know how he got a game!

ah, i think that's unfair mate. the guy was quality. left us down badly at the end - although there's more to this than meets the eye - but still worthy of his place up there.

great Whelan story. Aldo was the boy for me and i voted as such. have the 11 written down that i think will make up the list. are we allowed to predict? don't want to be threading on any toes with my first post since my transfer from Koptalk!

absolutely but the same thing happened a few years back with FIFA running an online vote for the player of the century. when they realised their great ambassador Pele wasn't going to win it but the drug taking, pellet gun wielding Maradona they quickly changed the rules.

I wonder have the official site been truly 100% fan based with the rankings. I find it difficult to believe that most fans voting in this would see past the current crop and vote for the likes of Billy Liddel. not that he doesn't deserve - i'm not saying that but most of us would never have seen him play.
