2011/2012 - I am dreading it....

How is Y1 still in DA ?

Surely, there can be no room for pessimism, if you believe ?

There is room for doubt even though we believe. Surely we do not need blind faith but reasonable belief. Yeah I still in DA but do not put me on the front line. I will be the back room boy till I recover my senses.

I believe we can comfortably get in the CL places, because our recent form suggests we're at least capable of it.

Everything else depends upon the dealings we, and others, make in the summer. A title push isn't completely out of the question, but I'm not expecting it.

Now that Barca has done fergie in, the dread and gloom has lifted a wee bit. Whisky anyone?

Spot on.

We will have the best players in the league playing for us next season that's something to be excited about

This. Good summary.

bump

Time for a recap. Still dreading it?

You should be asking yourself that question !

1) We lost our last two games after KD was appointed
Too early to say, maybe after their far east tour

2) We obviously do not have the squad to compete
Squad in Henderson and Adam added, am not convinced yet

3) Until we signed new players we will never know what are our capabilities until we sign them
As per #2

4) Man U, Chelsea, City, Arsenal are all eyeing the same available players and they are richer than us and playing CL
Well we lost Jones and Young, but no great shake.

5) What is there to attract great players (we need them) unless we have loads of money, which we don't.
No big names linked anymore but then not many big names going to other teams either

6) Our owner's wealth are like pocket money for the top four club's owners.
Still true

7) We may have overpaid for Andy Carroll who has yet to show any good consistent partnership with Suarez.
The top 4 are obviously going to strengthen their squad & Spurs' tinkering as well, are we doomed to mid table?
Still too early to tell

The dread has gone somewhat not because of any of the above prophecies being fulfilled but as a whole nothing much has changed for most other teams too. Have to wait for the start of the season

Isn't all this a bit premature?

We lost two games at the end of the season yeah, we punched above our weight for a while and were reminded in the last two matches of the shortcomings in the squad, particularly in midfield were we lacked a bit of punch and too many players fell back to their usual standards. Particularly Lucas and Maxi, both of whom now look like having competition to contend with in Adam, Henderson and possibly Downing (all of whom are better players, IMO).

We do not have the squad to compete. There's a while to go in the transfer window and it's fairly obvious we're looking to recruit more faces while getting rid of deadwood. Like I said, premature.

Until we sign new players we will never know their capabilities. Erm, isn't that the case in every window? The point is, we're signing players!

Man U, Chelsea, City, Arsenal are all eyeing the same available players and they are richer than us and playing CL. We have to contend with that every season, we need to stop concerning ourselves with what they're doing and no one knows if any of their signings were our first choice targets.

What is there to attract great players (we need them) unless we have loads of money, which we don't. We signed Suarez and Carroll.

Our owner's wealth are like pocket money for the top four club's owners. We're spending enough to compete, like I said, you need to stop worrying about what everyone else is doing, look at how much we've invested.

We may have overpaid for Andy Carroll who has yet to show any good consistent partnership with Suarez.

Still too early to tell but he's shown his quality, allbeit briefly, this should be a big season either way.

We never did well pre season for the past so many years.

Remember under Evans and then Houllier? We used to batter teams and go into the season thinking we'd win everything.

It's almost as if the Premier League teams are better than a bunch of Tibetan Farmers.
