Isn't all this a bit premature?
We lost two games at the end of the season yeah, we punched above our weight for a while and were reminded in the last two matches of the shortcomings in the squad, particularly in midfield were we lacked a bit of punch and too many players fell back to their usual standards. Particularly Lucas and Maxi, both of whom now look like having competition to contend with in Adam, Henderson and possibly Downing (all of whom are better players, IMO).
We do not have the squad to compete. There's a while to go in the transfer window and it's fairly obvious we're looking to recruit more faces while getting rid of deadwood. Like I said, premature.
Until we sign new players we will never know their capabilities. Erm, isn't that the case in every window? The point is, we're signing players!
Man U, Chelsea, City, Arsenal are all eyeing the same available players and they are richer than us and playing CL. We have to contend with that every season, we need to stop concerning ourselves with what they're doing and no one knows if any of their signings were our first choice targets.
What is there to attract great players (we need them) unless we have loads of money, which we don't. We signed Suarez and Carroll.
Our owner's wealth are like pocket money for the top four club's owners. We're spending enough to compete, like I said, you need to stop worrying about what everyone else is doing, look at how much we've invested.
We may have overpaid for Andy Carroll who has yet to show any good consistent partnership with Suarez.
The top 4 are obviously going to strengthen their squad & Spurs' tinkering as well, are we doomed to mid table?
Still too early to tell but he's shown his quality, allbeit briefly, this should be a big season either way.
