Good one Baz. I need to leave the Champions League alone though........I lost on the 3% challenge because I couldn't see Leverkeusen beating Chelsea. I thought the team Chelsea had out looked very strong and was confident of the bet! My downfall is always when I bet on a game in which I haven't seen one of the teams play in recent times and don't know most of the players i.e. Leverkeusen.

Thanks Redsar. It puts me up about £2,300 for the season but I've been up this much before at this stage of the season and gone back to zero profit so I'm taking nothing for granted. I'll be happy enough with a £2,000 profit for the season, anything above that is a bonus.

Just to clarify above, in case anyone is following these bets, I don't want to sound too negative because, even the season in which I went from +£2,500 back down to level, I still finished the season up over £2,000. I'm confident that I can finish this season somewhere between £4,000 and £7,000 in profit.

4k-7k over a season would be great, having in mind inevitable losing streaks. You manage to keep good staking discipline which is the key to success. Although I'm not a big money bettor, I often find myself chasing consecutive losses that ultimately wipe out my account.

£170 over 2.5 goals Barnsley v Palace to win £207.........this bet is split 50/50 between this thread and the 3% one.

Edit: Half time 1-1, the reporter on SKY Sports has implied it's end-to-end and there's been loads of missed chances. I'm sure thye bet will come good but I've still decided to lay some of the bet back to lessen my liability...........sold £120 @ 1.31 so my liability is now £50 on under 2.5 goals and £170 potential profit on over 2.5 goals (still split 50/50 between the 2 threads)

I'm not sure I could call it a "staking plan" but I do always try not to bet if I don't find value and that's sometimes difficult. If, on a busy saturday of fixtures, I don't find much value there is always a temptation to speculate and that tends to lead to trouble. I still do it sometimes but I'm fairly disciplined these days.

The main reason I couldn't claim to have a staking plan is because I could do 10 or 12 smallish bets and then spot something I find tasty and bet £500-£1,000. It doesn't always work out but about 3 times a season I'll do something a bit wild

Palace are unusually playing 2 up front tonight and IMO Palace's best CB McCarthy is on the bench. Barnsley have 2 good defensive midfielders but are playing 2 good forwards (Ranger is decent at this level and I like Craig Davies a lot) and 1 decent wide player and an excellent creative midfielder called Buttefield, so hopefully there's enough there to get the over 2.5 goals sorted.

Yeah, I couldn't see much value in the match bet because they're quite evenly matched but I just thought that at 43/1 it was worth £10. The odds on the reverse were 30/1 and I did think about it but chose not to.

I was however delighted to lose the other bet on Man United

Laying Swindon quite heavily @ 2.36ish because I'm not convinced this price will be available tomorrow. Swindon's best player (by a considerable distance) is Matt Ritchie and he's suspended tomorrow. Bristol Rovers have a couple of new midfielders on loan who look decent and overall their squad is better than their league position suggests. IMO the correct price for a a Swindon win should be between 2.6-2.7.

I rarely bet on a team with a shit manager but Barnet annoy me, they have some very good players and should be doing better despite the fact Sanchez hasn't a clue what he's doing.

£20 Barnet to win at torquay to win £72. If they win it's because they're at least as good as Torquay, if they lose it's because they have an eejit for a manager.
