AFCON 2025

Salah top goal scorer and has scored in every game he’s played with the latest being the winner to knock out the holders.

Can’t wait to get him back full of confidence.

i’m more concerned he’ll be like a 12 year old springer spaniel that’s been out for a long walk for the rest of the season

I think I'd like to see Nigeria win it. I lived there for 5 years and they love their football but have been crap for what seems like decades.

Sooooooo Mo was saving himself to dominate this tournament, maybe? And then he’ll start playing like he cares?
He's not dominating the tournament. Egypt isn't a one-man show. They play really boring defensive football. Honestly Marmoush has been better than him.
The only player who has been dominating the tournament is Brahim Diaz.

I can't blame Mo for wanting to perform for his country, you can always tell he carries the weight of the nation on his shoulders.

That year he lost the AFCON final he was mega deflated. I fear they will lose to Senegal (who are easily the best team left IMO) and he will come back equally deflated. But regardless of any of our thoughts about his performances first half of the season, its great that he is scoring and winning. We need that back in the team.

You think Senegal are better than Morocco?

Senegal are probably the best left but the 4 are pretty strong, Egypt probably have their best strike force I can remember and Knock off Mourinho Quiroz isn't around to play Slot ball for 120 mins this time.

We need him back as a decent option off the bench, and because of injuries, but I´d much rather he was sold and we brought a winger in, or we had everyone available and he didn´t start.

We are a much more stable team without him. It´s not that loftiest of aspirations, but its what we need right now. What we need in the future... also is for him to be irrelevant. I´d love one last little purple patch from Salah, but the cost is immense.

I think we would have been stable against the teams we have played since he's been at AFCON (apart from Arse) with me playing RW.
We need a striker who is fit and able. Not too bothered about anything else right now. We aren't going to buy anyone in Jan and we have enough people sitting on sub who aren't trusted or able to offer that currently. Everything else can be evaluated at end of the season.

You think we looked stable or structurally sound earlier in the season against shit teams? Please.

You think it’s all down to one player we looked shit sounds like which is what I disagree with and us looking stable in a run of games against Leeds, Sunderland, Wolves and Spurs doesn’t prove anything, it’s minimum expected to save his Job.

Come on, we have drawn the last 3 which 2 should have won and I would say “stable” is relative. We have still conceded fair few in that time with a brand of horrible football. Let’s not oversell it, it is LFC having spent 500m for this…

I would credit us with not being as open to a single long ball, or through transition, and being able to hold the ball in fairly pedestrian ways. You think I'm overestimating how good we are, I am not, you are forgetting how bad we were. Stability is not overselling it, imagine I was setting you up with someone and you asked " is she hot" and I said, "put it this way, she's structurally sound, the right number of arms and legs, at least since the operation, but stable now, for the most part."

The girl you were fucking before was a corpse. Don't get all choosy now.

Having some sort of symmetry to the side, is a big part of that. We can't ask our team to do some of the complicated shifts they need to do in transition to compensate for Salah. We can't have that symmetry off the ball with Salah.

It is actually very simple, and as far as that structural issue goes, it is actually 100% him, and has been for years.

Sometimes it can be worth it. Most of the time it isn't. The odds are worse every single passing day.

Why weren't arse getting out in the second half? If you said it's because their manager is another essentially negative pragmatist who is about to win the premier league, you'd only be partially correct. He's a cunt too. But what was he afraid of. And when he waved the team up and they didn't go, against our mediocrity, what were they afraid of? We didn't even have a striker.

It was a fast guy giving them fits. That's all. That's frimpong. Please please please don't take some basic baked in threat out of this team. There are some little shoots happening that I can see growing out of this mound of shit. Ekitike continues to be great, wirtz is starting to produce, frimpong is causing headaches. There's very little to cling on to here. Don't fuck that up in service of the past.
