AFCON 2025

(I've not watched one game - but that's b/c I rarely watch anything that isn't with Liverpool anymore ... just don't have time or desire)

I would have liked Mo to win - it would have been something extra special (perhaps the most special?) for him and his career.
As he couldn't, I hope Sadio wins it.

This is the viewpoint I can understand.

Regardless of whether we want him to play for LFC or not, there is absolutely no reason to not want Mo (or Sadio for that matter) to do well in Afcon. Whether some people can digest it or not he is a club legend.

The spiteful and petty attitude of some in this thread is bewildering to say the least.

It's been going on for a few yrs now, and if you dare have a differing opinion from vocal agenda then you will be referenced in threads even non related to Mo like you are defending some kind of pedo. Even when the guy is away on AFCON, he gets castigated.
It's pathetic SCM specific behaviour of a few and no wonder we have decreasing lack of engagement. Not sure how long SCM will last once Mo leaves.

Indeed

Bloody hell AFCON is shit. Can't hit the back of the net to save their lives.

2 x Semis + 3rd Place and the Final : 4 matches and just the 1 goal so far. Bar Egypt beating Ivory Coast 3-2 the quarters didn't have more than 2 goals a match either.

BBC

Both sides have had good chances to win it - and then Senegal are harshly denied a goal after the referee awards a very soft foul.

After all the hassle the Senegalese have had to deal with I wonder if the ref. has been got at.

And now (BBC) :
He has got no need to have his hands around him, but I still think Diaz goes to ground very easily.

To say this was controversial is an understatement.

Ekoku : If this balls ends up in the back of the net Senegal will quite rightly feel like they have been robbed.

Into the 100th minute. The Senegal players don't want to leave the penalty area. They're still fuming. They had a winner disallowed a few moments ago remember.

He [referee] is looking to book anybody now in a green shirt.

Yeah I think that has been answered.

Drama in the final. Morocco gets a soft penalty in added time. The Senegal manager goes mental and pulls his team off the pitch.
Sadio is the only Senegal player telling everyone to keep playing.
Team Sadio ftw.

Sadio Mane is staying out there, he's not gone back to the dressing room to join his team-mates.

Sadio Mane is now signalling for his team-mates return.

There is very little positive to say about the last 20 minutes or so, but one person to come out of it well is Sadio Mane.

He was the one Senegal player who clearly did not want to walk down the tunnel and was telling his team-mates to come back out.

He also walked over to the Senegal fans after the full-time whistle, begging them to calm down. There is now a line of armoured police in front of those fans to my left. It's been quite violent down there on several occasions.
