Isn't the white tiger genome a defect genome caused by inbreeding?
All white Tigers are inbred. Genetic deformities is quite common among them.
Not entirely true. It's true that almost all the white tigers in captivity today are a result of inbreeding and a lot of them consequently have genetic deformities. However, white tigers are found in the wild in India, especially in Bengal and Orissa (where I'm from) though they're very very rare. And there's no documentation to suggest that such tigers are a result of inbreeding. In fact, they're supposed result from a recessive 'white' gene that's found in a lot of Bengal orange tigers. Also, white tigers in the wild are supposed to be larger and stronger than the orange ones.

He's been playing well. Do it for another 10 consecutive games please.

...and beyond. Go a season without getting injured!

And now he's (apparently) injured...

Genetic issues

Outside of India, white tigers have been prone to crossed eyes, a condition known as strabismus, an example of which is "Clarence the cross-eyed lion",[10] due to incorrectly routed visual pathways in the brains of white tigers. When stressed or confused, all white tigers cross their eyes, according to tiger trainer Andy Goldfarb. Strabismus is associated with white tigers of mixed Bengal/Siberian ancestry. The only pure-Bengal white tiger reported to be cross-eyed was Mohini's daughter Rewati.

Strabismus is directly linked to the white gene and is not a separate consequence of inbreeding.[11][12][13] The orange littermates of white tigers are not prone to strabismus.

Siamese cats and albinos of every species which have been studied all exhibit the same visual pathway abnormality found in white tigers. Siamese cats are also sometimes cross-eyed, as are some albino ferrets.
The visual pathway abnormality was first documented in white tigers in the brain of a white tiger called Moni after he died, although his eyes were of normal alignment. The abnormality is that there is a disruption in the optic chiasm.
The examination of Moni's brain suggested the disruption is less severe in white tigers than it is in Siamese cats. Because of the visual pathway abnormality, by which some of the optic nerves are routed to the wrong side of the brain, white tigers have a problem with spatial orientation, and bump into things until they learn to compensate. Some tigers compensate by crossing their eyes. When the neurons pass from the retina to the brain and reach the optic chiasma, some cross and some do not, so that visual images are projected to the wrong hemisphere of the brain. White tigers cannot see as well as normal tigers and suffer from photophobia, like albinos.[14]

There is a 450 lbs. male cross-eyed white tiger, named Namaste, at the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo in Hawaii, which was donated to the zoo by Las Vegas magician Dirk Arthur.[15] There is a picture of a white tiger which appears to be cross-eyed on just one side in Siegfried & Roy's book Mastering The Impossible. A white tiger, named Scarlett O'Hara, who was Tony's sister, was cross-eyed only on the rihy side.

That one is a Liger.

A cross between Lion and Tiger. I'm pretty sure of that. The mane around the neck is pretty telling.

I'm not sure I appreciate this thread turning into a debate about gay, moronic tigers.

Aah what the heck, avhundred pages don't write themselves.

PS That first Tiger-pic made me LOL hard.

hahahaha

Daniel Agger has attacked former Liverpool team-mate Fernando Torres, calling the Spaniard's £50 million move to Chelsea "unacceptable".

The defender said it was disrespectful to quit Anfield for a rival club, and pledged never to play for another Premier League club.

Although the Dane said the Liverpool players were still on good terms with Torres, he was critical of the move.

He said: "It is unacceptable to play for one of Liverpool's arch-rivals.

"For a Dane, it's about having respect for the club you play at.

"I am proud to be able to pull on my Liverpool jersey and will never go to another club in England.

"I will never go to Manchester United or Everton. It's about respect for the club."

Agger helped spoil Torres's Chelsea debut last Sunday, featuring in a 1-0 win and flooring the striker with a forearm to the chin.

The 26-year-old also had harsh words about ex-boss Roy Hodgson, who was sacked last month after just half a season in charge.

Asked to explain Torres's poor run of form, Agger said the whole team was "s***" under Hodgson's stewardship.

"Look at the team - we played awful, we were s**t," he said.

"When you look now every single player is better. But when we were losing, everybody was on top of us, everybody played bad.

"Confidence can win you games and Kenny and Steve have put the confidence back in the players and we have shown that definitely in the last four games."

Don't tempt fate.

Wouldnt want anything to break.

Ahem

Bit frustrating. Carra back and now Agger out. Hope its not for long. Can we have a settled back 3/5 for the rest of the season, pls?

So is it confirmed he knew he was injured and then made it worse playing in a fucking friendly for Denmark (again)?

If so then sell. Once is bad enough, fuck him if he's done it again. And I hope we're not paying him (or having to use our insurance company) to pay him whilst he's out.

Guess we'll have to wait for the official word. Last seen:

Martin Kelly could recover from an ankle inju ry, Martin Skrtel is struggling with a thigh problem and there are concerns over the fitness of Daniel Agger.

Fatigue or just undiagnosed yet at press time?

Agger was injured on his return from international duty prior to kick-off with an abductor injury.

Hopefully both him and Gerrard will be fit for Thursday!

Daniel Agger Feeling Much Better About Liverpool Future Under Kenny Dalglish

Daniel Agger is feeling confident once again in Liverpool now that he is playing under Kenny Dalglish, current manager of Liverpool FC.

According to Talksport.co.uk, Agger was open to leaving Anfield under former manager, Roy Hodgson. But now, Agger can see himself staying with the Reds for a long time.

"I see my future at Liverpool for sure," Agger said. "I have three years left on my contract so if that's long-term then definitely! I’m happy here.â€

The Danish import is happy with his team after being recalled by his new boss and following Dalglish's decision to play with three center-backs in some matches.

"I think I've done well alongside Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel and also Kyrgiakos. We've played some really good games with three at the back and there is now great competition in defence.

"There's a new atmosphere at Liverpool under Kenny Dalglish and he's been the key. It's a good place to be now."

Agger: I want to score 20 goals a Season
from the official

Daniel Agger believes Liverpool's offensive approach to matches is assisting the team's defensive ranks - and insists the Reds are ready to attack Sparta Prague as they look to book a place in the next round of the Europa League.

Kenny Dalglish's charges ground out a goalless draw in the Czech Republic last week, and the Dane is anticipating a forward-thinking display from the Reds as they aim to last up a meeting with either Lech Poznan or SC Braga in the last 16 of the competition.

Liverpool have looked a more potent threat in recent weeks, and Agger feels their offensive outlook is in turn helping bolster their defensive ranks, with the team conceding just once in their last six outings.

He said: "You have to look at the team which is exactly the same (as under Roy Hodgson). Kenny came in with new ideas, and they made us really happy about playing football.

"That has been the main reason why we've improved defensively because we're keeping the ball going forward."

He continued: "We will approach Thursday like we do every home game.

"Try to get forward and keep the ball, playing attacking football, and at Anfield if we play well, it will be difficult for every team.

"So we've got a good chance, but it's not easy, it's never easy in the knockout stages."

European competition holds fond memories for Agger - but there is one night that stands out above all others for the defender.

The No.5 scored with a well-worked free-kick in the 2007 Champions League semi-final success over Chelsea at Anfield to help put Liverpool on their way to a penalty shootout victory and a place in the Athens final against AC Milan.

"It was so important, we lost 1-0 away, but we knew we had a good chance back at Anfield," Agger recalls.

"The fans and the crowd in the home tie was unbelievable.

"It was the best atmosphere I've ever heard, so we knew the crowd was behind us for the semi -final as well due to the noise they generated.

"The tie before that, against Barcelona, was another great atmosphere.

"But when we came onto the pitch to face Chelsea, I've never seen or heard anything like it.

"To score in a game like that - it wasn't the easiest goal - that was a great feeling for me.

"But also helping the team to the final was a great thing.

"We didn't work it out on the training pitch, but we knew before that if the chance came we would try it.

"We had talked about it, and when the moment came, both me and Stevie just saw the space.

"Obviously, it was a great ball from him, flat and hard on the ground, I just had to do the rest.

"We had a lead to defend, but it wasn't pressurised. Instead, I was thinking that if we scored one more goal then we were definitely through.

"That goal gave us the chance to play in the Champions League final."

Agger's notched seven goals since joining Liverpool from Brondby, helping to forge a reputation as one of the game's most cultured centre-backs.

"Getting forward and scoring goals is a big part of my game," he said. "I like to have the ball and play with the ball. For me, that's football.

"I knew coming to the English Premier League five years ago would be difficult as there's many physical teams. There's more of a long ball game here.

"Playing in England has been a challenge and I like that.

"But the way I play is on the ground and to try to win football games like that. But sometimes, you have to do it in other ways.

"A long time ago, I did play in midfield, for Brondby at a lower level.

"It wasn't my decision to go backwards in the formation in the team.

"You can ask every player here, all of them started up front, I think that's natural.

"I don't think you find your position until you're 14 or 15.

"I don't have a target for how many I would like to score each season. If I could, I would score 20, but I know that's not realistic.

"Five would be nice, but it's more important for me to keep a clean sheet. That's what we try and do every game, and if I get a goal that's just a bonus."

If Agger had any form of accurate heading ability, he'd get 7-10 a season. Not sure how many have realised his propensity to make an absolute hash of sitters with his head, but if there was a compilation you'd be pretty shocked.
