Atleti are shite, draw would be a good result but I see us nicking this on the night comfortably. Going for another 1-0 win.

I reckon Jurgen will go with Mr reliable for this.

Alisson Trent Gomez Van Dijk Robertson Fabinho Henderson Milner Mane Firmino Salah

How do you nick something comfortably?

I'd take a 1-1 no issue
I'd be tempted to agree, & I keep telling everyone how cautious klopp usually is in first leg games, however, I suspect there's a chance he may look at how many key players they have out injured now & that will be back for the second leg, & try to get it won, esp if we look much the better side in the opening exchanges.

They're cynical fuckers but are not a settled bunch right now.

I say we'll put this to bed 0-3 or 1-3

An away goal and avoid defeat would be grand, but we should really be winning this.

I've watched a handful of Atleti games recently and they are quite toothless up front.

Their one and only game plan is to whip in a speculative cross to Morata and hope for the best.

There is zero chance Morata will win any aerial duel against VVD or Gomez.

Is that thundercunt Diego Costa available to play? Dirty, pos fucker he is.

Atleti are certainly not as good going forward having lost Griezmann but you know they will be very well drilled defensively and very hard to crack open. My guess is a 0-0 draw.

It is very rare that we dont find a way to score. And I guess they want a result to bring to Anfield. 0-0 might be ok for them but risky as well.

They're going to sit deep even at their place, I hope we throw another attacking playing into the mix... its a shame Shaq is out of favour but maybe something like this:

-----------Alisson----------
TAA--Gomez--VVD--Robbo
-----------Fabinho-----------
------Hendo---Ox----------- would also happily see Minamino or even an attack minded Milner here.
Salah----Firmino----Mane

I'll be extremely surprised if Keita doesn't start.

He was bought with an eye to play against deep lying defences using a low block, which is exactly how these play.

Who would he replace in the midfield 3? Fabinho? Gini?

I understand your reasoning, but personally can’t see Klopp going with anything other than his usual “big game 3.”

MM shouldn't been thrown in from the start and we need more creativity than Millie. I would love to Keita start in place of Ox otherwise the same team you have there.

Hendo will be waiting for him if he is.

He'll go with Milner over Keita, Klopp always puts his trust in Milner in the big away games.

He started Bayern away, Roma away, Barca away, Porto away (twice), PSG away, Napoli away.

Milner with an attacking remit is actually nice and dynamic and often breaks through the lines in the final third which is fun to watch. Even Gini can be excellent in this role but that isn't the remit Klopp gives him, and I feel for this game in particular we can throw more caution to the wind as they aren't going to take the game to us.

I think anyone expecting an easy game in Madrid will be in for a rude surprise. Simeone knows his tactics and his players will surely raise their game compared to what they’ve been showing lately in La Liga. They won’t be afraid of us, certainly not at home, they will look to cut off all supply lines to the front 3 and stifle our game in midfield.

They will probably have less of the ball overall, but when opportunity presents itself they will attack ferociously, inventively and in numbers. I think we’ll create chances, but we really need one of our front 3 (or VVD from a corner) to find an unstoppable finish at some point, because Oblak is not easy to beat.

It won't be easy but in similar ways in which games against stubborn lower half of the table opponents sometimes aren't easy. They've been very poor in attack this season and their tactics now surely will be to avoid conceding an away goal.
