Charlie Adam

Holloway exploits the functionality of a newspaper column to have a say, again.

I do not care if mighty Liverpool have made a bid for my captain and best player Charlie Adam – if they don't improve it drastically or put a "1" in front of it, then they can go and whistle. They have offered £4m, which I think is a disgrace.

Anyone who doesn't agree with me should watch a video of yesterday's game with Sunderland because Charlie was immense, the best player on the pitch. He has some unbelievable skill and talent and if other clubs think he is only worth £4m, then I despair, I really do.

We've had three bids for him so far, from clubs that are round and about us in the League, but I'd suggest that rather than waste my time, or try and unsettle my club, they offer me a real amount of money.

Charlie deserved better than just the one goal he got yesterday, but Sunderland's keeper Craig Gordon made some terrific stops to deny him. I thought we were unlucky not to get anything out of the game to put it mildly. But maybe it was karma from when we won at their place just after Christmas and they dominated and had 33 shots on goal but didn't score from any of them.

Well done to Steve Bruce. His club continue to thrive. They were upset about Darren Bent going but at least they got a decent amount of money for him. We're not being offered anything even half-decent for Charlie and as far as I'm concerned he is going nowhere.

Every press conference, the first dozen questions are always about Charlie and whether he'll be leaving. The constant speculation does not bother me though. The fact he is getting all this attention is deserved because he has played well for us. I want all my players to get plaudits.

Will Charlie go? It is very simple. Life is about timing and this isn't the right time. He will stay with us because the figures being bandied around are insulting. We will get £46m if we stay up so why get rid of Charlie now for a good deal less than that?

I trust Charlie to continue to be professional, even if part of him does want a move away. Every day when I was a kid I heard the ice-cream van and I wanted an ice cream. Did I have one? No. I had to get on with it.

I'm sure he is professional enough to look at it again in the summer and think about his choices then. In the meantime I want him to get on with showing off his brilliant skills and passing range for the remainder of the season. Charlie has the chance to help us achieve something really special and then he can gain his reward, so I don't see the rush.

Ferguson said: “Ollie is always bending your bloody ear on the phone. He’s never got a penny and is always pleading poverty.

“You end up crying afterwards and feeling sorry for him.

“He’s always been that way, for loans and things like that.

“When I sold Craig Cathcart to Blackpool he was moaning that he couldn’t afford him and he was over-priced. Now he’s the best signing he’s ever made!

“And Charlie Adam has turned out to be good business. I’ve known him since he was a boy. He always had a talent – now clubs are offering four or five million.

“Of course, Ian doesn’t think that’s enough! But when he goes to get a player, it’s bloody disgraceful that managers are bleeding him dry. Then somebody tries to buy his players and he demands top money!

“I don’t think they will sell Adam. Ian would be silly to sell him in the position they are in. They may do in the summer – who knows? He has done well and has been a star for them.

“His passing ability and goal ratio are excellent. I think he scored 22 goals last season and eight or nine this seaso, which is a hell of a tally for a midfield player in this league.â€

Charlie Adam will have to forfeit a massive £1million bonus to earn his dream move to Liverpool.

The Blackpool captain decided he wanted to leave the club as soon as Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish entered the race for his signature with a £4m bid on Friday.

Aston Villa and Birmingham have also bid for the midfielder but the thought of joining Liverpool has convinced Adam to leave.

But Sunday Express Sport can reveal that Adam has a clause in his contract entitling him to a share, believed to be 20 per cent, of any transfer fee. But if the former Rangers star asks for a move he forfeits the windfall.

That means a likely compromise offer of £5m would cost Adam £1m, but last night it appeared that he was ready to sacrifice the cash by slapping in a transfer request.

Dalglish, rather than Liverpool’s director of football strategy Damien Comolli, is driving the move for Adam, who Blackpool boss Ian Holloway wants to keep until the summer.

I believed that £5M will get us Adam.

Ian wasn't fighting Adam's corner for the relegation bonus he was due and now is trying his utmost to drive the price up by moaning like a bitch in the media like he is some type of victim. What an ass!

Did anyone think for a minute that Adam was likely to turn the King down? Ha

We cant have agreed a fee?

The option is at 13 million which we are free to refuse; it's unlikely he'll want to come back though since he hardly played for us but is a fucking star for Juve.

Still, if Kenny wants him there *might* be a chance.
[/quote]

I don't think we are free to refuse it Avvy. Juve are, but we're bound by it.

Though I'm not one of those who want to keep the guy (he should never have come here in the first place, and I don't believe we'll get anything like the best out of him if we haul him back now), can Juve actually force a sale? Doesn't the option kick in if we decide to sell, rather than regardless of circumstance?

I think Juve have the first option of refusal but we have the right to recall him.

That would be sensible!

Depends on the wording of the deal I guess.

Either Ross or you could be correct.

Hope we have some say in this; it's very galling to think we bought the crock, kept him for ages, hardly play him under Rafa, then Hodgson bins him off without giving him a chance either only for everyone to see what most have known all along; that he's a good player in a Liverpool squad full ofcrap.

Regards Holloway, you can hardly blame him for the way he tries to run things financially. They're a small club with not much money, so of course he's gonna try and get the best deals to and from the club, he's right to penny pinch.

I do think though that he's shown how small time he can be in the last few days and why he wouldn't be able to handle the pressure at a big club.

All the reports of the deal stated that there's clause for Juve to buy him for 13m in the summer.

That's probably what will end up happening.

I don't blame Holloway for getting annoyed. In the week we agree a £5.8m fee for a cunt like Babel we are trying to fuck him over for his star player at £4m.
Who would you rather have?

He was 'at fault' for a goal last night, just let his man who he had 10 yards on trott past him and eventually go on to score

Yeah I saw that, but some of his play throughout was excellent, he set up a few chances and put away the penalty, he also went close with a freekick. Everyone gives goals away with mistakes, our captain has done it enough times.

Makes no scense Vlad, in the week we accepted half the price we paid for a cunt like Babel, (I don't agree he's a cunt either, just a bit thick), we offer the same as Aston Villa and one other club for his star player. Who has 18 months left on his contract.

Anyway we should offer him a loaner, say Poulsen for the rest of the season, unless we can sell him of course.

He'll end up going for about £7.5m overall, they'll accept it, Holloway will moan, life will move on.

Even when the Oracle pointed that out on MOTD I was not convinced on the validity to be honest.

I think that we'll get Adam for less than £7.5 and price will depend on his desire to join us. If he puts in a transfer request then its a game changer. £5M for a player with 18 months is not unreasonable despite Holloway's rant. Fergie's comments on Holloway are quite telling.

As for Aquilani, he'd be a star in our team playing pass and move.

I didn't really know what to make of Fergie's comments. I found it strange that he commented unfavourably about Holloway when he knows the main interested club is Liverpool. Also was he offering mild admiration for Adam or was there more to it?

Aquilani, Gerrard, Cole, Adam, Lucas, Meireles, Poulsen. A lot of competition.

It makes perfect sense to me Asbo , Babel has the same 18 months left on his contract, and it seems to me he is half the player Adam is, and the fees being banded about don't reflect that.

In fact if someone came to us and offered us £4m for Lucas (I know that is too bizarre) half the people on here would choke at the idea, so why do we think it's OK to go round trying to fuck clubs , and decent mangers like Holloway.
We were not exactly over the moon when Barca did it to us, the fact is Adam is a decent player and if we get him for under £8m we will have done good business.

Not sure about that, I would be putting Shelvey into the mix before most of them

I think we could get him for 5 to the club, and pay him his bonus he would lose out on, so 6 overall (if thats legal).

we should help him out with a loaner for the remainder of the season, any of the fringe players ie Spearing or Poulsen, to soften the blow.

Oh yeah forgot.

Poulsen and Spearing (possibly Lucas and Aquilani too) will be shipped and Cole isn't a CM.

Meireles, Jonjo, Gerrard and Adam are good 4 to have as CM options. Jonjo will continue to grow into the role.

Fucking hell Asbo, what has Holloway done to you?

Spearing is one thing, but do you think any self respecting PL manager would want Poulsen, the same Poulsen that put one successful tackle in against Blackpool, ironically.

Haha Vlad he can always turn him down.

I think Jay would be good for them, and it would also help develope him, Spearing needs the games and Blackpool would 'blood' him good style.
