I don't imagine he will be used as an.impact sub. I imagine he'll play from start against the sort of team that we'd need him more than Lucas. He's here to give is another dimension.

I agree. It wouldn't make sense to buy players just to stick them on the bench. Any target we have in the transfer market should be good enough to go straight into the team.

Youve got to question whether the lad is going to be a starting first team regular; against the lower league sides possibly, but against the top 6 and Everton, no way.

Depends on form really. If he does well against lower league teams then he will get into the team on merit.

With respect; rubbish.

Barring a non-sensical argument such as "if he's in the form of his life and scoring two goals a game" - his defensive frailties will mean he never EVER gets in the team ahead of Lucas against a Chelsea or Man U, he simply wont/shouldn't.

And in what capacity was that? As a defensively minded midfielder? No.

So because he did okay against them for Blackpool, we confine Stevie to a def mid role to accomodate him? Bollocks will we.

He won't be playing as a defensive midfielder so Lucas might keep his place and Downing/Henderson/Kuyt/Maxi could be dropped to allow Adam in.

No ..... it just blows a fucking big hole in your theory that he's not good enough to play against the top teams. You have no idea what our formation will be next season or who the personnel will be, or what Kenny's tactics will be, so we will just have to wait and see on that count won't we.

Where did I say that genius?

What I said was he'll struggle to make it into our team against the other top teams because i) the way we set up to play against them, and ii) the players we have that have already proven how effective they are in this capacity.

Short of playing a 4-6-0 formation, Adam doesnt look like he makes it into the starting XI against Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs or Everton

Yeah I misread your post as saying he wasn't good enough to start against the top teams. Apologies.

Still, it's not often we have a clean bill of health so it's good to know that the lad is good enough to start if called upon to do so.

No problem - and to be fair, with Meireles perhaps on his way out, and a declining Stevie, your point re squad health may be precient.

From ESPN.

Blackpool have opened "preliminary discussions" with Liverpool over the sale of Charlie Adam, Tangerines chairman Karl Oyston has confirmed.

Adam was close to leaving Bloomfield Road in the January transfer window and following Blackpool's relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the season his exit became almost certain.

Liverpool had a £6.8 million bid turned down in the winter and have now renewed their interest in the 25-year-old Scotland midfielder, but negotiations are at an early stage.

Asked if the Reds had tabled an offer, Oyston told The Gazette: "We've had a few very preliminary discussions and enquiries but nothing of any substance."

@Pault86: I know he can't reply to me but @Charlie26Adam. That Chairman of yours is playing you as part of his deck in a game of poker.

Has he not signed yet?

I want to get chubby out of the way so we can start on the (hopefully) exciting targets. As it appears we only have the ability to sign one player at a time.
